What you mostly hear is noise from the far left and noise from the far right. The vast majority of us here are somewhere in the middle and too busy with life to make so much noise…and even if we did it would never make it to the news because moderation doesn’t sell and common ground doesn’t advance anybody’s agenda. Yes, I’m getting a bit jaded. I’m becoming a bit of a curmudgeon in my middle-aged years. But that’s my take.

I don’t think it needs to lead anywhere.

I honestly can say, I do love and appreciate the openness of the Americans. At least you know where you stand.

I can’t stand the fake politically correct attitude which is has engulfed our secular system today, where people are not willing to state the obvious for fear of ‘offending someone’.

That’s ok we Americans will keep inventing all this great hardware and software technology for the benefit of the whole world. If they use this very same technology to criticize us we Americans should take it in stride and remember that actions speak louder than words.

There is one difference between us, the op is not putting down americans or being anti american. In a typical Australian way , she is saying whats going on, why are americans all so my way or the highway.
But that could also be because we are typing and we don’t have all the facets of communication to enable us to make a decision as to how the question is being posed.
so to speak.

We have a huge homeless issue. and its biggest growing group is middle aged women.
No housing, expensive housing, list goes on,
I would also disagree with spiritual dryness. there is a difference between believing in God and practicing religion. Many people believe in God but are non religious.

In Melbourne and regional victoria, we do have an emerging issue with youth violence due to ICE. And we just had the unfortunate death of Angry Anderson’s son due to drug violence.

can I answer…

wait, it will derail the thread. I mean we do have …vegemite.

I will grant you guys your PB and jelly, or pb and chocolate… but really!

hey, I love God, gardening, my animals, I am neutral on cars, I do like sport, but I find that Americans are pretty crazy about sports too.

I am enthusiastic about many things. chocolate, mango, avocado,

I find Australian women to be very flirty with American men in particular. Not complaining.

it started with those ships in a few wars that used to dock here on R&R
