And she is only 13!!!, she can barely swim!!!, and non of the other 152 have survived!!!.

wow, do you think God wants to make something out of this girl which would benefit the human beings…

Isn’t this incident by itself proves the existence of God (for the atheists on this forum).

I thought there was a toddler who also survived. ??? I’ll have to see if I can find the story.

:signofcross:

EDIT: I guess the toddler’s survival has not been confirmed. Sorry!
There were earlier reports that a 5-year-old boy survived. El-Kaei said that was not known and the airline had lost contact with its office in Comoros because of bad weather.

Why would this incident prove the existence of God?

If you pose this question to an atheist, they will say, “Well, why didn’t God save everyone while he was at it? Why didn’t God prevent the plane from crashing into the ocean? Why didn’t he guide it to land to allow it to make a safe landing?”

If you look at things only from the perspective that this girl survived, you focus on a very small part of the story. I am sure her family is rejoicing and is very glad. And that is good and fine. I would be happy if I were them as well - we all would.

But look at the 152 who died. Their families are torn, hurting. The outcome was nothing close to a miracle for them. It was a tragedy. A huge tragedy. There would be no talk of a miracle among them.

As a side note, I was just told that there are other survivors - it just hasn’t been reported yet.

So yeah. Don’t embarrass yourself by asking this question of an atheist in real life. The atheist will probably do nothing short of laugh at you.

And honestly, even when I was a Christian, this event would not have been sufficient proof of God’s existence for me. I never would have used it in an argument.

Hello PureGrace! One thing this incident proves is that God works in mysterious ways. No one will be able to tell you why He has let this little girl survive while others have died. That is because no one knows why. We just have to accept that we can’t understand a lot of the things God does…and do we really need to, anyway? No, because He does everything for a reason.

In Him,

Are plane crashes happening more frequently or are we and/or the media just paying attention to them now? I don’t seem to recall this many a couple of years back.

NO IT DOESN’T!! Evrey time something good happens people say the lord has blessed them, every time something bad happens then it’s because the lord works in mysterious ways. It’s not proof of a damn thing!
…and do we really need to, anyway?
YES! WE DO!

It’s proof enough to conclude that even though something bad may happen in our lives, God will be there for us. He is comfort before AND after the storm.
YES! WE DO!
Our tiny human brains feel the need to wonder why God does this, or why God does that. Some reasons He may reveal to us right away. Other times, the reason will be revealed to us later. And God may not tell us the reason at all, in some cases. But we must be content with knowing our Father has everything under control and let Him do His work in our lives. Especially when we don’t understand!!! Because when we don’t understand why God did something in our lives, it is all the more appropriate for us to grow closer to Him!!

I don’t think so. You are pretty much saying, “This bad thing happened. It was terrible. I don’t know why God did allowed this to happen, but because he allowed a terrible thing to happen for some unknown reason, I know he is watching out for me.”

It is thinking like this that has contributed to my lack of self-confidence in my ability to think and reason correctly. If you keep telling yourself you are too small, unable to understand…such thinking starts to permeate every single aspect of your life. It destroys you. It sure as **** has done a number on me.

Yep :). He is watching out for*** all ***of us. Even in bad times, He’s there. He’ll never leave us.

We aren’t able to understand, fully!! We can’t fathom the whole picture and God knows that. And we are too small!! But that’s why God allows us to be content with what we are and what we know. He is the king and we are His children. But you cannot allow what you lack to make you think lowly of yourself. You simply have to be the best you can be and live with that. Another problem people have is that they try to be their own god…need to be the smartest, richest, most attractive and*** that’s*** what destroys you. You need to give your life to God…that’s the only way you can be content with who you are. He’ll take care of everything else.

I’m sorry but you addressed atheists, so I’m gonna say this:

This actually exactly proves his non existence, since a being of love that involves himself in our lives, should then save all 153 people, not so?

If this proves god then I definitely don’t want to follow him…if he saved the little girl, was the other 152 not good enough? Did the other children and women not deserve to live? Did they not pray hard enough? Or was he just too busy to get to the others?

This is quite amazing. Subhanallah…
But it (obviously) doesn’t prove the existance of God. lol

Yes, of course, God is always watching us. He interacted with people thru His prophets and His angels… until the time of our Lord. Then after He revealed Himself thru Jesus Christ (who lived among us) He became scarce… and Jesus became scarce as well after He ascended into heaven… So now, it seems He lost interest in watching us anymore. Still bad things happen…calamities happen… evil things things happen … wars… but good things, as well. It s still my belief, though, that God still obeys even His own laws when He created everything. For example, to us here on earth, that airplane would fall from the air normally if something goes wrong technically or due to human error at any instant. God will not change the pull of gravity just because some planes are falling. Another one (out of op), a normal baby is born with either a p or a v - that is, either a male or a female. Just because there is an LGBT group in our midst now that He would change. If people are losing their lives (in a violent way) they don’t lose their souls. God has them. If they lose their souls before they’re reconciled with their Creator - then that’s the terrible part. They will still be judged in the end either good or bad… heaven or hell. Not somewhere calm. That’s His law as it is written.
I know it sounds like we almost want to complain but it is what it is. If you are found to have been ‘highly favored’ for some reason then maybe you have a better chance of being seen (watched) more closely by Him or by His loving angels (and will be spared from terrrible death) … for example, that child. . That’s why I still believe that miracles do happen. Otherwise, we are living in the ultimate test of our own Christian lives because of our free will and of obedience - the main thing that we shall all be concerned with. I guess.

To believe that God exists and that he is good doesn’t mean that natural disasters and personal disasters won’t happen. It means that in the end all will be made right.

As believers, we have the confidence that, whatever happens, God will somehow bring good out of it for us even here on earth.

The believer knows that God was with all those who died in the crash and is with their families. The non-believer does not have the comfort of this certainty.

I don’t think the fact that one girl survived will convince an atheist of the existence of God.

Oh sure, I’ll believe in your God now for saving one child and letting the other 151 people die. Amazing logic. Any other children killed in the crash?

I love the expression “He works in mysterious ways.” Bit of a ‘catch all’ really. No need to rationalise or apply logic. You get to stay in your fairy tale land of faith. Whenever anything good happens, it’s His will and when the **** happens, well who are we to understand? Excellent.

Yo, brother/sister…yoism is the real mystery,eh? Let’s seek the “sensible” using our intellect and engaging only the “logical”-wherein lies the*** answer to our existence?
Seems to mimic a happy “you”-topia that so many wanderers try to "create for
themselves. *** It’s a “safe” and “comfortable” reality-or is it? Something we control? That fantasy will end sooner or later, and then what?
Without the dimension of the Supreme, it’s all a gamble really…an aimless projection into the realm of ultimate despair. Follow the Light, dear brother/sister, for the** Truth** and purpose you are so desperately seeking. The** Truth** will set you free. God bless.

You need the dimension of the supreme because you could not cope without beileving that there is some purpose or meaning to your existance. I have enough light in my life without needing to believe in a man-made, mysogenistic, homophobic religion that promotes a genocidal, jealous, insecure and imaginary god.

.
(bold/italics mine)…if we remain in a state of grace, and implore God’s mercy when we are guilty of sin.
For “not all who say, ‘Lord, Lord’, will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but those who do the will of My Father…” (Jesus)

God will make “all things work together for good, for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose…”( St.Paul) God bless you!

If none had been saved, they would have asked “Why didn’t God save them?”

Since one was saved, they ask “But then why didn’t God save them all?”

If all had been saved, they would have asked “Why did God allow the plane to crash in the first place?”

Do they ask these sorts of questions of their beloved science that engineered the plane in the first place, or of the pilots? We’re all depending on something (or someone!) here, and from what I’ve seen the score is still God 1, mankind 0.

Perhaps nothing can convince an atheist that God exists, but this child survivor certainly does, and for that I can only say thanks be to God, whose providence extends over the believer and the unbeliever alike.
