It would in fact be impossible to receive only his body or only his blood. If we did, Jesus would be dead, and we would also not receive his soul or divinity.
Christ has a heavenly body now, not a mortal body. If He had a mortal body, having millions of people eating His body every day would also kill him. Your argument makes no sense. Joe

Communion in one species under exceptional circumstances is quite a different thing than making it the ordinary practice. No doubt God can and does confer grace when only one species is given; that doesn’t mean the Church should make it a practice. Joe
Joe, the Church has in fact made it a practice many times during its existence. The current custom of everyone receiving under both species was not universally practiced throughout the Church’s history.

The Eucharist, received by one properly disposed, always confers grace, whether received under one species or two.

As to Christ’s heavenly body: He ascended into heaven, in a glorified body. That is the same body he has in heaven. It’s the same body we receive. The mystery of the Eucharist is that we do NOT each receive a different body of Christ. We all receive the same one. Jesus is not multiplied. Rather, we are drawn together into the one body.

Some Episcopal parishes (don’t know what percentage) allow parishioners to dip the body in the blood. I personally prefer to do it that way.
A few folks do it (probably some non-Catholics who should not be partaking of the Eucharist anyway), personally I think it’s tacky. The Eucharist is NOT an oreo cookie. I think it looks awful and irreverent.

We are NOT Episcopal, let’s not copy something that dimiishes the sacrament. Jesus and the apostles did NOT dip and eat, they did so separately.

There have been several Eucharistic miracles. At Lanciano, Italy, at Cascia, Italy, at Duric (sp?) Germany and also in Akita, Japan (not really sure if it was indeed Akita, but it was in Japan).

In a couple the host bled, in one the host turned into a human beating heart, in another it became the human muscle tissue of a human heart. In another the wine was spilled and blood covered the altar producing 11 or 12 images of Christ face, in all cases the blood type was the same.

And blood was evident in the host/heart tissue, so the hosts does in fact become the Body AND Blood of Christ.

The relics can be seen in their respective locations, even to this day. One did happen in the 700’s, one in the 15 th century and a couple later.

My Parish only offers the Holy Eucharist in the Host. Only the Priest takes the Precious Blood. As a convert of 10 years, I was taught (in a Parish that offered BOTH) that the Body, Blood, Soul & Divinity were present in both species. My Aunt who is a lifelong Catholic said that before Vatican II, no one but the Priest partook in the Precious Blood.
