It was the Roman centurion’s servant.

“Another well known miracle of Jesus is the healing of the centurion’s servant. A Roman centurion or soldier came up to Jesus. His servant was very sick, even near death. He asked Jesus to heal his servant. Jesus told the soldier to lead Him to the sick boy. The centurion said, “Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldst enter under my roof: but only say the word, and my servant shall be healed.” -Matthew 8:8”

It never ceases to amaze me at how much scripture is found at Mass!

Correction: Lord, I am not worthy that thou should come under my roof but say the word and my soul shall be healed.

I was contemplating that very saying as the church i attend is french/english and i couldn’t remember how to say it in french. That’s when i got to thinking what it really meant and most of the replies make some sense. Thanks.
