When one does an action, that action alters the doer. What?

The Pinocchio principle: we become what we do. One does good actions and one becomes “more of a child of God.”

One does evil actions; one becomes a “donkey.”

Evil or good actions alter us.

Evil hardens our hearts.

Good enlivens our heart.

Evil is not extrinsic.

Good is not extrinsic.

I call it the Pinocchio principle.

I call it the Dorian Gray principle.

I call it the Pharaoh principle.

I call it the hardened one’s heart principle.

I call it the child of God principle.

Our moral actions, good or evil, are not recorded in a book, but in our soul.

Seamus,
Very quickly, I perfer the scholastic principle that action follows upon being, or to put it in the way Christ Jesus did, a good tree produces good fruit.

The Good is an objective reality in that it lies outside of all created things, but exist in the Realy Real - God, that is Goodness itself .

Using the thoughts of St Thomas Aquinas, evil is the lack of good. The less good in a person or action etc. then the greater the evil.

Tome:

I agree. I agree. I agree.

I know that evil is a privation, corruption, or destruction of good.

I agree. I agree. I agree.

The Picture of Dorian Gray and Pinocchio show the same thing, differently.

Biblically, human beings when they sin are describe as animals, lower than humans–evil. King Herod is a fox–evil, less than human beings. No dogs allowed in the Heavenly Jerusalem. Animals are of a lesser being than humans, and especially graced humans.

The Devil is a snake-- no nose to smell Christ’s aroma, no feet to walk by faith, no arms or hands to do good works. No ears to hear God’s Word. He has a forked tongue to speak falsely or to speak with duplicity.

My point is that young children, in years or maturity, see evil or sin as something outside of themselves. It is something inside of our soul. Grace is good. It is in our soul. The Holy Spirit dwelling in our hearts.

Sin or evil is “positive” in that it makes our hearts hard.
St. Matthew 13: 15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross (For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and [their] ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed…).

“Pachuno” is the Greek for “is waxed gross.” “Pachuno” means “to make thick, to make fat, fatten.”

Blindness is real. It is a lack of being, as we all know. Spiritual blindness is in the soul. It is a lack of being. It is a destruction of being. Blindness is a privation. It is real. It is a lack of being.

Spiritual deafness is in the soul; it is a lack of being.

I think we agree. I think we agree. I think we agree.

Just a thought also for us to remember…we can change our evil ways and learn to do good like St.Paul. Of course, we hopefully won’t need to be knocked off a horse and be blinded to recognize what God wants us to do ultimately in our life…to follow Him, not persecute him by doing bad things to others & society.

That’s the spirit of true reconciliation, repentance and atonement. Thank God for this great sacrament!

Happy in SPIRIT are the BEGGARS; theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

We need to beg God for His help.

He knows we need help.

He gives His grace without us asking.

We are the ones that need to be aware of the need to beg.

We are all poor. But I need to be a poor person who begs for God’s help.

In the beatitudes, blessed could be translated happy.

Blessed are the poor (beggars) in Spirit, theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Laws are statements of the consistencies nature displays in the properties and functions of matter and energy.
Laws are statements of the consistencies of human nature displayed by our thoughts, choices, passions (emotions) and actions.

As love increases, our hate decreases.
As sexual control increases, our lust decreases.
As drunkenness increases, our rational thought decreases.
As prudence increases, our foolishness decreases.
As gratitude increases, our envy decreases.
As friendliness increases, our cantankerousness decreases.
As our courage increases, our fear decreases.
As our patience increases, our anger or irascibility decreases.
As our truthfulness increases, our dishonesty decreases.
As our faith increases, our disbelief decreases.
As our hope increases, our despair decreases.
As two become more equal to one, then they both become
more like each other. As husband and wife become more
like God, they become more “one”. If “B” is equal to “A,” and
“C” is equal to “A.” Then “B” and “C” are equal to each other.

Law of Drunkenness: drunkenness and rational thought are inversely
proportioned. The more intoxicated one becomes the less rational thought one has. (Cf. irrational anger and irrational jealousy also deplete rational thought)

Law of Love: love and hate are inversely proportioned. The more one loves the less one will hate. The law of love is a law that has extra-mental reality. In fact, the law of love has more reality than the law of gravity.

Law of Truth: truth and dishonesty are inversely proportioned. The more one is dishonest the less one is truthful.

Law of Patience: patience and irascibility are inversely proportioned. The more one’s patience grows the less impatient.

Law of Love and Happiness: to the degree in which one loves one will be happy. Happiness and charity are directly proportioned.

The laws of love and justice really do exist. In fact, they have more being than the law of gravity.

There is a real law of drunkenness.

It has extramental reality.

It has more being than the physical laws which human beings have observed and named.

Law of Drunkenness: drunkenness and rational thought are inversely
proportioned. The more intoxicated one becomes the less rational thought one has. The more one drinks, the less one thinks. Be a thinker and not a stinker.

The law of love has extramental reality. It has more existence than the physical laws that govern the material world.

What is the most loving thing that a mother who is expecting a baby do? Love her baby and give it life.

God is beautiful.

God is omnipresent.

God is creator of the universe.

When we study the physical and moral laws, we can see His beauty. Our knowledge sees His beauty. Learning studies His beauty.

When we study Divine Science, we can see His beauty.

In Exodus 33: 19 God tells Moses that His beauty will pass in front of him.

Then Moses received the Ten Words or Ten Commandments.

Those words have real being. They flow forth from God’s being.

God is Life: you will not murder.

God is Love: you will not hate.

God is Truth: you will not lie to or trick people.

We are free to fall deeply in love with God’s beauty.

We are free to be happy while enjoy God’s beauty.

Law of Happiness: Happiness and misery are inversely proportioned.

Law of Love: Love and doing evil are inversely proportioned.

Happiness and love are directly proportioned.
