I was praying the Rosary in my car while using my phone to find pictures of the mysteries (I find pictures really make the Rosary far easier to focus on.) I accidentally forgot the Carrying of the Cross and went straight to the Crucifixion. After praying the Crucifixion, I realized my mistake. I then proceeded to pray the first Glorious mystery, the Resurrection. It felt wrong to me to go backwards in Jesus’s life, so I went ahead.

I know the Rosary is a devotional, so you can pray it however you want. I don’t know if you are supposed to switch mysteries though.

On a side note, I have a Rosary book with pictures, but I misplaced it and I don’t know where it is (my desk is a mess, and I have lots of things in my drawers/armoire, so finding it is a bit out of the question.) Does anyone know of a book (or set of prayer cards) that are for praying the Rosary pictorially? Thanks! 👍

The “Scriptural Rosary” has pictures and scripture, though they aren’t colorful.

You answered your own question: you can pray the rosary however you want.

It’s fine to pray the rosary while driving, but I wouldn’t use a visual aid like pictures in a book or phone. Please just use you imagination when driving; use scriptural passages or pictures when you’re not driving. As awesome as the Blessed Mother is, you could still get cited for distracted driving or worse crash and hurt yourself or others. I think like any mother, she’ll tell you not to use your phone in that situation.

If you “get out of order” don’t stress over it. That you are trying to pray is what counts. The only thing I will add is do not use your phone while driving. That is not safe for you or anyone on the road. Peace

You’ve received some great resources for pictorial aid for the rosary and also good advice about not using the phone while driving.

Hope you find what you are looking for,

God Bless,

Mary.

Thanks for the replies! I am not driving when I pray the Rosary in my car, rather I am parked. Sorry for confusing you guys. :o

I usually try to pray the rosary when I am waiting for something. That way, it feels easier to focus for some reason.

Your doing OK. Rome wasn’t built overnight and neither was the church. I think you might find CC theology interesting and you can find online course about how the Church ahs been enlightened. Peace and prayers.

Hi Melodeonist,

I have this small Rosary booklet that I use to pray the Rosary with that is published by the Catholic Book Publishing Company:

It’s called, “Pray the Rosary.”

It’s a very nice little booklet.

I got it from our local Catholic book store.

It’s a small little booklet. I think that at the time that I bought it, it probably cost less than $2.00 (US).

It has nice color illustrations in it for each mystery.

I get distracted when I pray, so the pictures help to keep my mind focused on the mystery when I pray.

Here is a link to the Catholic Company website, where you can see the booklet:
