LOL. Very funy. Why need to pretend to be Catholics? <part of taqiyah, lying for the sake of Islam?>, cant they just be for who they are? Is there a muslim pretend to be a jew yet? 🙂 🙂
pretty much entertaining! Haha
Moses said (PBUH) that we are not to abhor the Egyptian.

The problem I see in this discussion and others like it is that although everything in that letter may be the truth, it is little more than purist theory if the dominant practice of Muslims runs contrary to it.

As an example from the Catholic faith. It is against clear Church teaching to use any form of artificial birth control, yet a majority of Catholics in Europe and the West do use it and are contributing to the decline in western populations, or what some are calling the suicide of the west. In other words there are huge social, political and religious consequences. But at the same time, ask a group of orthodox Catholic theologians and they would give you the correct answer.

The two things are not totally analagous, but let’s say the letter to the Pope represents real orthodox Islam. We can still say, so what? On the ground, in practical terms, in large regions of Islam, it ain’t happening. The opposite is the practice. Try practicing the Catholic faith in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, etc. It is difficult even in Turkey where there is supposedly some semblance of freedom. In those other places it can be deadly. This is the reality. We all know it and many here have quoted the rhetoric that confirms it.

And, it also inevitably causes us to ask that question that others here have claimed to already have the answer to, ie. is it really the case that the thinking in that letter actually represents Islamic orthodoxy?

We want, in charity, to make the analogy that comes to mind, such that a violent Christian is not a good Christian, and likewise a violent Muslim is not a good Muslim.
Many here would claim the opposite, that a violent Muslim is actually a good Muslim.

Frankly, I don’t know. That was the implicit question behind the Pope’s original mention of Islam. Can we count on reason in dealing with Islam, or must we always have to resort to the sword in self-defense?
I tend to be from Missouri on this as well as some others here. Show me. If these signatories have any influence in their world should they not apply it? Or are they really that out-numbered? In which case, does it practically speaking matter a whole lot what they say?

They claim that “there is no compulsion in religion” sura 2.256. This is nonsense as it is abrogated by over a hundred suras demanding murder and hate and conversion by force. Now check out the other verse they they love to quote, partially and out of context:

Sura 5.32. On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.

Note the exceptions!
Guess what happens if they deem that you have done mischief such as resisting islam:

Sura 5.33
The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter.

Even in their letter to Benedict the Brave they could not help lying by omission.

Google the following words, adding kill after each word
quran, hadith, mohammad. jihad etc
now try the following words, adding deceit after each word
taqiyya, hudna, kithman

They are most proud of Mohammad’s deceiving the jews of hudabiyya.
Google hudabiyya kill jews, you can also try the hudabaiyya spelling variant.

Here’s a complete rebuttal of the “Open Letter to the Pope”. It’s a long article but well worth reading as the author demolishes all their agenda.

“Open letter to the Pope by the world’s thirty‑eight greatest scholars of Islam, already dubbed as the ‘Fatwa 38’, will be deemed to a piece of document of historical importance. It will also be historical in lies, dishonesty, deception and stupidity for its content; given the fact that modern world’s greatest brains of Islam have been the architects of this letter.”
