If you are “Catholic” and are/do any of the following:

*Think the Catholic Church is not the true Church. “It’s just a denomination, we just have to believe in the Real Presence”

*Think that women can become Priests.

*Go to Mass twice a year (Christmas and Easter),for baptisms and confirmations

*Think artificial contraception is a-okay.

*Purposely vote “Pro-Choice” with that specific intent.

*Want to continue abusing the liturgy with your garbage. Your garbage makes some Episcopal (Anglican Communion) churches seem more Catholic.

*Refer to the Mass as only a meal.

*Tell everyone that Purgatory no longer exists since “we’re embracing the spirit of Vatican II.”

*Tell everyone not to go to Confession even once a month since “we’re embracing the spirit of Vatican II.”

Get your act together or just leave the Catholic Church and come back when you are ready to stop making a mockery of Catholicism with your kumbayaness.:D:p:mad:

So you’re going to post this in the sub-board where the least amount of people that subscribe to what you are complaining about inhabit?

Kudos…?

While I certainly do not agree with any of what mentioned, you have no right to tell anyone to "just leave the Catholic Church."

The Church belongs to Christ, not you.

And the answer in these cases is never to leave the Catholic Church – the answer is always to reform your way of thinking.

It’s really tough to blame the parishioners who just haven’t had the opportunity to know better, if you know what I mean.

Amen!! Amen!! Amen!! And the rest of us must lovingly help them to know the full truth of our Catholic faith.

Once you are validly baptised a Catholic, there is no way to no longer be one; one can only lapse from practicing their faith, they cannot leave the Church.

Are you sure you are not the unorthodox one?

👍

Ok since the time the church became legal under Constantine’s edict, and even before, there has always been the problem of the “wheat and tares(weeds)” that is people who do the bare minimum to maintain their status as Christians which includes not only belief but, praxis (action). The Holy Spirit raised up the desert fathers and the early monastics as a medicine to counteract the mediocrity that occurred when Christianity became not only legal but, the state religion of the Roman empire. The Spanish Inquisition was an attempt by the King of Spain to purge the “heretics” out of the church and we are still hurting from that one.
While we can admire the zeal that the o.p. puts forward, I do believe it is the Holy Spirit’s job to reform the church. I do encourage the o.p. to stand as valiant soldier for the Lord’s cause but to realize it must be done in love and not anger. Pray for the mediocre and lukewarm that God will set their souls on fire and give them the grace of conversion and in the mean time, be their example by living the gospel and giving them the Lord’s love for them

Although I “feel” the same way as Melchoir, I think Mark T is probably correct.

These things upset me too, but we can never tell anyone to leave the Catholic church. We need to be telling people to come to the Church. It is where they will find truth.

We, also, need to tell people to study their faith because, alot of people were never taught the truths of the faith and need to learn.

Wow…sure am glad you’re not in charge. Who licked the cherry off your lollipop today? Think you need to chill out, man…😃

This is a terrible thread. I thank the people who said that this is Christ’s Church. Rock on!

To the OP:

Your not going to convert anyone with your attitude. Don’t get angry and don’t tell anyone to leave. Like it or not your an ambassador for Christ now. You have to live a virtuous life in accordance with the faith andhelp lead others back to it. This is hard. I know because I fail often at it. I would like to ask you to please be humble and edit your initial post. Via charity, prayer, and presenting the faith in an understandable and deep way you will have far more effect than this.

  • Lumen Gentium* 14 states at the end of the first paragraph: "Whoever, therefore, knowing that the Catholic Church was made necessary by Christ, would refuse to enter it** or to remain in it**, could not be saved. Thus it is possible to “refuse to remain” in the Church. This is formally accomplished by a letter to one’s local ordinary stating the intention to leave the Church.
LG 14 goes on to distinguish who refuses to remain in the Church from one “who though part of the Church, does not persevere in charity.” Neither can be saved.

So a person can lose his salvation either by** leaving the Church** or by remaining in the Church but failing to live according to her teachings.

leave the Church? why? is the Church only for the holy and devout? i thought the Church was supposed to be for sinners to be able to reform their ways. so if you’re not up to a certain standard, then you must leave the Church? thats it? 🤷

maybe that should have been part of the list:

if you think that the Church is only for the devout and those who fulfill a certain standard…

Is this really speaking the truth in love? 🤷
“…Nor does it have to do with love if heresy is allowed to spread and the faith twisted and chipped away, as if it were something that we ourselves had invented.”
—Pope Benedict XVI

This is Christ’s Church and we must PROTECT it as Church Militant. We can’t be silent and worry about being “nice” when souls are at stake. There are standards if you want to be called Catholic. If you throw out or ignore teachings of the Church…then you aren’t Catholic!

‘Niceness’ would be sufficient if Hell wasn’t a possible destination for our souls. I don’t think the post-1955 Church is helping people by focusing on ‘Jesus Loves You’ to the exclusion of Death, Hell and Damnation.

Awesome response! As my 9th grade students tell me,“Chill out Ms. K and walk in love”!
Out of the mouths of babes…

“Dear God, Thank you that I am not like THOSE sinners…”

Sound familiar? It’s a pariphrase of a Pharisee’s prayer; one Jesus had nothing nice to say about.

I hope you are as vociferous in condemning the sins that YOU frequently fall prey to. 😉

The trick to being a good catholic is to never forget that we’re ALL bad catholics.
