Yes but Isaiah’s all-powerful god is hidden (Is. 45:15), he never intervenes in the world, while the whole purpose of your god is to intervene, and as a result he can’t be all powerful. Look at how your logic forces god into giving knowledge to the Nazis - he is emasculated, without any choices, anyone good or evil can milk him for knowledge, all they need is to remind god of his contractual obligations to your logic.

You really have invented a cargo cult right down to the minutest detail, congratulations!
But my main point is that we humans do not have the innate wit to bring the world to where it is today from where it was 150 years ago. What you’re doing is trying to pigeonhole me.

We are not alone in these bodies. There exist a special Spirit in me that knows all my thoughts and deeds, from my earliest childhood. This Spirit also speaks to me words of wisdom and encourages me to perform good deeds.

Of course, tying things down is hopefully what gets done on a philosophy forum.

You had a vague unease that something is up and proposed that God done it. But on examination that theory explains little, emasculates God, and the morality will probably reach baroque levels of complexity further down the road.

So you can now chuck that theory and start on another.

Except that often, theories become pets, and it doesn’t matter how complex and pointless a theory becomes, it never gets chucked. Just look at intelligent design, UFO abductions, YEC dinosaurs, Elvis alive in an Atlanta condo, etc.

Be interesting to see which you decide. 🙂

Maybe I’m on the wrong forum. My main aim was to express my experiences and beliefs that led me to conclude that innate human wit cannot explain the technological advances over the past 150 years. It’s the sort of ‘critical belief’ that could shatter the belief system of individuals. This knowledge came to me Spiritually, and resulted in an experience that shattered my belief system. That’s what I was after: To shatter the belief system of certain philosophers :). I’m a former research psychologist, and my interests are to discuss the implications of such a theory. This is where I’m disappointed in this thread; things got too philosophical instead of psychological and theological. I want to perfect what I wrote so that it will shatter the belief system of the common individual.

I too had a Teresa type experience, lasted months, maybe an intellectual vision, maybe a brain malfunction, maybe both depending on whether you were in my head or outside. 🙂

A thread about technology will attract engineers, and we tend to be promiscuous about theories - if an idea is useful we’ll accept it until a better one comes along, then it goes in the bin without too much sentimentality. Continually fiddling with our beliefs may help make them shatterproof.

Also, while some Catholics seem to be highly theoretical about God, for me God is Christ, and Christ is experiential, not at all theoretical, so again you’d have an uphill job in the shattering department.

If you did convince me that God is the source of technology, I’d demote that god to invisible alien and still believe in a higher God, as handing out technology seems far too trivial a career for God Almighty. There’s also the problem that knowledge which isn’t meaningful to hairless apes would go straight over our heads anyway, so why is God giving us knowledge we could have got on our own if only He’d had more patience?

Etc.

All of which is just to say that while you’re the expert, shattering beliefs might be a lot harder than it looks.

Thanks for your straight-forward criticisms. Just for clarification, I’m not saying that God or Satan makes technology, but rather that all knowledge stems from God and that Satan is the prince of lies and deceit, and causes us to be blinded to Truth. I honestly do not know where our technology comes from, but I’m sure that it does not come from our very limited innate wit.
