…yet another reason why permitting Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion was a bad idea. It gave Satan a massive opportunity to profane the Eucharist, and he’s taken full advantage.
:tsktsk: Oh come on!!!

Are you telling me that just because a person is gay, he profanes the Eucharist? If that is so, then in order for you to receive Communion, you must go to a person who doesn’t sin***–at all!***

(Hint: Did he/she or you speed to get to church on time? Are they cheating on their taxes by claiming a goldfish as a dependent? Are the men or women ritually clean–abstained from sex the night before, not giving Communion during their menses? And are you the one that is to judge? I seem to remember something in the Gospel–Judge not lest ye be judged–about who is to judge? Finally, are you absolutely sinless in your own life?)

Get over yourself–you are going to get Jesus in the Eucharist. I would take the Eucharist from the worst sinner in the world (me) because it is the Eucharist, and not because some “sinner” is giving it to me.

By the way, have you ever heard of the heresy of Donatism? Look it up!

The above statement makes no sense, If a person who is openly gay ( as in lives as an active Homosexual) yes he most certainly profanes The Eucharist by recieving and distributing it.

Why that infers that you must go to a person who does not sin, since there is no such person, your comment makes no sense what so ever.

I understand the sacrilege of receiving communion in a state of mortal sin; however can you show to me how it is a sacrilege to distribute communion in a state of mortal sin?
Cristiano stop being so obtuse. By the fact that the individual is openly gay, living with a partner and even just receiving communion himself is sacriliges and scandalous. So stop playing games.

Oh you great example of bright intelligence can you please let me know where I was talking about gay people?

If you were a little bit smarter you would stop ad hominem remarks. You would use your intellectual capabilities if any and maybe you would try to understand the difference between what is allowed and what is not allowed under different circumstances instead of making your own rules and blanket statements.

And your point is? again what does that have to do with anything?

I think everyone is well aware of this fact, it does not negate the fact that EM’s in mortal sin should not be taking communion or distributing the Body and Blood of Christ. If confession is not available and they are in mortal sin they should not be distributing it. As Buffalo said it profanes The Eucharist, any EM who distributes/handles the Eucharist while knowingly in mortal sin does not understand the awesome honor it is to be allowed to do so. Nor do they fully understand it IS The Body and Blood of Christ.
I am not talking about a person living an homosexual lifestyle here. I cannot see how any Catholic could disagree on that. Here I am simply differentiating between the sin of receiving communion in a state of mortal sin and distributing communion is a state of mortal sin (maybe I am hijacking the thread with details). Can you please refer to canon law where it says that it is forbidden to distribute communion when in a state of mortal sin.

First of all, as Catholics, we do not “take” Holy Communion; we receive.

Now, Donatism does not have any bearing in this discussion. The issue at hand is that if a person is knowingly committing a serious offense that goes against the precepts of the Church (living in a homosexual partnership/relationship with another man), then that individual should not present himself as an EMHC. No one is judging the person, but, his conduct is certainly unbecoming a person who is supposed to be serving at the altar. It’s as though we’re saying, in theory, that it’s perfectly fine for someone who performs abortions on a routine basis to proclaim the readings or serve as an EMHC. Such behavior is inconsistent with Catholic teaching and would cause scandal to the Church and to the faithful.

The documentatoin tht blessedtoo provided is accurate and correctly answers the question at hand.

Why do you guys keep bringing Donatism up in this thread? It isn’t related in the slightest bit to the discussion at hand.

Who said it was in canon law? who said it was forbidden?
You are the one who is playing silly semantics, the original discussion was about EM’s who are serving at mass. If they are serving at Mass then they would be recieving Communion and if in Mortal sin they would be committing a sacrilege.

Bringing up the fact that some EM’s distribute outside of Mass was just inane. If one is in Mortal sin and distributes The Eucharist (I don’t know how many times I can say this because you are quite obviously not getting it.) They are profaning The Eucharist because they are not in a state of Grace. Mortal sin is a separation from God. How any Catholic does not understand this is a mystery to me!
