YinYangMom:
Oh yes, I should have been more clear…my son’s ADD benefits from gaming.

My husband and daughter do not, perhaps because they have the hyperactive component to theirs?

Who knows? All I know is their symptoms are different.
I wasn’t trying to imply that games can’t exacerbate ADD. I’m sure they can. I think it depends on the individual and therefore, each parent has to make a judgement call based on what they know about their kids whether or not they should have videogames around.

I know games have been used to treat ADD in some cases, but the research into this field is still very young. I also know that games can be addictive for anyone so parents need to make ground rules if they do allow games in the house (but that’s the same with just about everything parents have to do really).

I want to thank you all for this feedback. I am submitting a scenario to someone who develops games for Sony PSII. I may have to put my big girl pants on, fire up that recently received degree in Business Managment and pitch this idea myself. It is based as strictly on the Catechism as possible. Keep me in your prayers. I’m a 50 year old widow-women out to conquer Grand Theft Auto!!!
