I’ll just quote one part that I found interesting (but read the whole article if you can!):

I may be instantly attracted to a woman wearing a bikini walking past me at the beach. I can’t stop the quick rush of those feelings, it’s biological. But that isn’t lust, which seems to be where a lot of guys get tripped up.

Lust is turning around to get a better look.*To imagine what’s underneath the fabric. Lust is shying away from her face so you can see her only as a body, an object. Lust takes time and active thought."

I’ve always agreed with this idea too, but then it struck me that a lot of guys say the opposite whenever modesty is brought up. They claim that they couldn’t help lusting, which for me, is not just “noticing a hot girl”. I mean I am a straight woman and I do definitely “look” at a guy but it’s not immediate lust. Is this the same for men as well? I’m not against modesty but the topic interests me, as you can tell. I feel like men are treated like they are wild animals with no self control sometimes. I mean there are a lot of guys who behave like that, but I feel it’s because they are just horrible people (guys who molest, rape, catcall women), not because they “cannot help themselves”

Just want to know your opinions!

Sinning clouds our intellect and weakens our will. If our intellect is clouded, we don’t see evil as evil: we see it as not that bad, natural, unhealthy to avoid, etc. If our will is weak, we will lack self-control and it will indeed seem to us impossible to do or not do something, and we will say, I couldn’t resist, the devil made me do it, etc.

It is all these little, apparently harmless or unimportant acts (what’s one potato chip? What’s one more?) which leave us in such a state. Then we have learn to recognize the evil and fight it every time it comes up.

If we pray for God’s help in this–which we have to do frequently: in the morning and each time it happens-- and stay alert to what we are doing and thinking, and we stand up and fight like God’s soldiers against this evil in ourselves, we will stop being mindless flabby blobs and start being more holy.
