I have read 4 books by Matthew Kelly and am in the middle of the 5th - The Rhythm of Life (which I am enjoying very much).

Is anyone here a fan of his books or a critic of them?

I read Resisting Happiness before Christmas and Rediscovering Catholicism, Rediscovering Jesus and 4 Signs of a Dynamic Catholic are the other books by Matthew Kelly I have read.

Anyone care to share their thoughts on this Catholic author and speaker? Has anyone attended one of his events?
 
Most people love him because he is so accessible. Our parish gives out these books as Christmas gifts to the membership. So we’ve all read them.
Easy reading, not real heavy. Perfect for many who don’t think they can get through a very deep book about theology Practical life application of what we believe, and encouraging.
I don’t know know anyone critical of them,

Yes…practical life application is a perfect description of his books.

He will be speaking the end of the month about 2 1/2 hours from where I live.
I would really like to attend, but doubt I will be able to.
 
Good resource books, we use them in the Adult Faith Formation courses.

AMEN! Ours does too, thank God and they go fast. He was in our city last summer, I belong to his Ambassodors Club. He is also on EWTN and the radio too. God Bless Mathew, Memaw
 
Yes, my pastor gave everyone Rediscover Catholicism for Christmas several years ago, and I finally read through the whole thing now. My grandfather’s pastor has given his parish Rediscover Jesus and Resisting Happiness, and I have read those as well. They are all very good, and I think that Kelly does a great job of explaining what he calls “the genius of Catholicism” and becoming the “best-version-of-yourselves.” He does it very simply and eloquently, and I have enjoyed it very much. He even came to speak at my grandfathers parish in September, but sadly I was at school and could not go…

Anyway, yes, I find Matthew Kelly to be a great defender and spread of the Faith!

Matthew Kelly is a gifted writer. He can spark the enthusiasm of those who need it, and inspire those who are into their journey with the Lord.

I have not seen him on EWTN yet? Was he a guest on a particular show?
What are the benefits of joining the Ambassador’s Club?

Thanks. Matthew Kelly has his own show on EWTN? When is it on?
 
I absolutely detest his books yet somehow I always read them. The latest culprit is “resisting happiness”

I find his books theologically weak, and more geared to cheerleading and self help than any substance. To me he is like a Catholic “Matt Foley”
It does help if you read him with an accent though.

I’ve seen him speak 3 times. Two were phenomenal and one was the worst I’ve ever seen. I think he was going through some health issues at the time. He was curt, and almost rude.
Though I will give him a pass on that one.

His speaking seems to be better than his writing.

I have known personal friends who worked for him in the past.

It is also important perhaps with Kelly above any others not to fall into a cult of personality.

I’d recommend his books to a novice at personal theology.

Thanks for sharing. He became successful quite young from what I have read. His books are light in theology. He was studying business or marketing in school and I think he has made use of that.
He seems to know how to tap into what we need to know to live happier, more productive and healthier lives. He definitely seems to have a gift for that.
I have enjoyed and learned from each of the 5 books I have read so far.I think you could read them time and again and retain something new.
