According to the doctrine of divine providence,God moves and sustains the operations of the natural world.
Just how interfering and controlling do you think God is? Has He got a finger on every flower that grows, on every man, bird and beast? Is he pulling the ‘strings’ of the world all day and every day? If a flower dies, is it because God took a tea break? If a war breaks out, is it because God went off to take a nap? If you think everything is sustained because God is constantly and continuously thinking about every little thing, you have adopted the Barkleyan philosophical approach. In other words, you and that flower exist because God thinks you to exist. Then again, maybe God just created a great big self sustaining universe, of which we are but a small part. And maybe He just drops in every now and then to make a few corrections where human free will went awry? Then again, maybe He doesn’t!

I fully support the ideas that Jesus expounded while he was here on earth with us including being charitable to all, helping those in need and leading Christ-like lives. Hiding behind “the law” as did the pharisees and saducees has got to stop. I disagree with the notion that our Bishops are “socialists” unless you would also say that so was Jesus.
Christ taught the type of “Social Justice” that every Christian should be practicing, love of neighbor, a helping hand when needed. He DID NOT teach a social justice of government enforcement. Social Justice must come from the heart and soul not the administration in Washington.

Let’s return to the OP’s question which was something different that where this track is now…We are discussing our Bishops, not the DC admin. To say that our Bishops 'support socialist ideas" is incorrect , the bishops are Not a political machine. They are living in the same world with the rest of us, and necessarily are affected by the same political structures that affect all of us. If we can live our faith out and follow Catholic principles and doctrines without politicizing every issue, we can make a difference.

So you don’t think there is a connection between what people either “interpret” what the USCCB says, or what 2/3rds of the Bishops actually say and our government in DC? Did the USCCB as an “organization” not support obamacare with the exception of abortion?

No, our Bishops, per se, are not a “political” machine, but their arms reach far and wide.

There are many bishops that support socialistic ideas and policies, even though they may not call them socialistic. Some of the bishops collaborate with the Democratic Party and organizations that purport to be about Catholic social justice but which promote socialistic policies, abortion, and undermine church doctrine. The idea that the government should be taking care of the citizens’ health and education and supporting them is typically socialistic.

And once the Catholic Bishops call for greater Social Justice to be given through state institutions, the are advocating the rise and rise of socialist principles. To do so is to (unwittingly/deliberately?) follow the basic tenants of Marxism. State institutions made responsible for ‘Social Justice’ must needs to deliver that ‘Social Justice’ by the use of Marxism’s catch cry, which is “from each according to his ability and to each according to their needs”. The trouble is, ‘needs’ can include such basic ‘necessities’ as TVs and cars.

It can be frustrating to argue with socialists when they use that saying, because it sounds like a Christian principle, and it is a Christian principle of communal charity if it means that people should voluntarily give to those in need. The earliest Christian communities as found in the Acts of the Apostles practiced it. You have to explain to socialists that the government should not be the means by which we help those who are in need. They see it as the best means.
