I was taking and Uber to Mass and I was picked up by a 25 year old girl. We started to talk about religion and she said well I am my own god. I kinda sat there for a little bit and thought how could someone think that they are god or a god. So she wanted to know about my Catholic faith I hope God works in her and she changes her mind.

She isn’t Christian. Why are Catholics so unaccepting of those with non-Catholic/Christian spiritual beliefs? Some of the posts here are very condescending about something the posters don’t know much about. I always welcome debate, but that isn’t what I am seeing here.

My Dear friend in Christ;

Have you taken note of the FACT that this is a Catholic Public Form?

For most Catholics here on the CAF; we have the hope and the goal of sharing in Truth that what WE believe & practice as it IS Christ One True Faith.

We hope that the Non-Catholics who choose to POST here are actually seeking GOD’S Truth which can only be singular per defined issue; and YES, I am aware that there are those here who desire to only discredit the RCC.

But to accuse US as being “unaccepting” is a complete lack of understanding the purpose of this FORUM; which is to give a opportunity for Catholics to explain and when necessary, to defend these beliefs to a wide audience, and in doing so, a natural consequence is to refute all positions and teachings contrary to those of the RCC.

May God guide your path

Patrick

In Romans 2:1-3 Paul is talks about judging someone to hell we have to make moral judgements. When people are saying that they are god. When people teach that Jesus was created and that he was and angel ( Jehovah’s Witness )
When people say that the devil and Jesus were brothers and they have another inspired book ( Book of Mormon ). We have to call these heresies out and speak the true Gospel. But never condemn to hell.

“I do care, and not because I watch Oprah (I don’t; is she’s even on TV anymore? The reason I care is that she has enormous influence and in many ways has her pulse on American society today. She’s “spiritual but not religious” in a vague, emotion-laden, feel-good,“I’m ok you’re ok” way. She purposely straddles a soft quasi-spirituality with a thoroughly “progressive” agenda.
In short, she’s like many, many others today. No wonder she has legions of adoring fans.
Does she ever talk about Christ? Is she even Christian?”

Oprah is a Christian. She doesn’t have her own religion. Anyone who thinks she does needs to stop listening to the rumor mill.

You claim that Oprah isn’t Christian. Where is your proof of this allegation? Do you know her personally? Did you grow up with her? Did she avoid church like the plague? What makes you believe that she isn’t (a) Christian?

I expect that you, like so many others, have listened to the rumor mill rather than taking the time to learn the truth.

Well when hear that Oprah referring to the Transcendence God as and IT. She has people on her show that were once Christian and now have no belief in God comparing him to Santa Claus. I mean really!! She is also telling us that religions tell us that God doesn’t exist! Witch is false. Exodus 3:12-13 says but," send Moses to God," when I go to the Israelites and say to them, the God of your father’s has sent me to you, if they ask me, what is his name? What am I to tell them?
14 God replied," I am who I am" then he added, this is what you shall tell the Israelites: I AM sent me to you.

They are twisting scripture!! It doesn’t say that God doesn’t exist like they say on Oprah Show. The Israelites understood that you could not even say his name.

Religion is something you do it’s and action she believes. Catholics believe that the Mass is not just something you do but a sacrifice of our Lords’ flesh and blood under the appearance of bread and wine.

So she is not Christian to be Christian you must believe in Father Son and Holy Spirit. Our Protestant brothers and sisters believe in that so they are Christians but they don’t share the fullness of the faith because they don’t have the Sacraments.

And to not believe in the existence of God put you in Dangerous Waters. Now I am in no way condemning anyone who doesn’t believe in God to hell but I pray for their souls everyday. Only God can judge God bless.

There was an episode of the TV show “30 Rock”, and one of the characters was looking into various religions, and he asked the Tina Fey character what her religion was.
She said something like “I don’t really have a religion, I just do whatever Oprah tells me.”

Funny line, that.

AMEN!😄

Let’s keep CAF a CATHOLIC FORUM but with charity.

God Bless you, and go get’em

MONEY corrupts and combined with POWER corrupts absolutely.

We live in a WORLD of MEISM: it’s only a sin [or wrong] if I SAY it is

Whatever I choose to do is RIGHT because I say it is

I AM god so no-one can tell ME what to do or believe

Only WE who persevere to the END, will be saved; let US endeavor to take as many as will permit it with us:smile:

I do not push religion on anyone but if I see and opening and someone wants to talk…it can even be with a non- Christian just want to touch as much souls with Christ message. Would not want anyone to parish in hell

That is a Beautiful thought; HOWEVER is THAT what Jesus by example did:blush:

we ARE to lamps on the hillside for ALL to see, AND HEAR. Most certainly this IS to be done with FACTS & In Charity; still we ARE to TEACH Christ one True Faith; and not be too concerned about feelings; if they get in the way of facts.

Pray about it and ASK thr HS to guide you

Patrick

Like I said I am in no way judging Opera. But I have a moral responsibility as a follower of Christ to speak up when someone is going against God and His Church. She has a huge responsibility to the Lord, because she talks to millions over the air. They listen to what she say just like they listened to Charles Taze Russell or Joseph Smith if she knew the gospel and she did she wouldn’t be calling God and IT! On TV. That demeans God. He is the all powerful God not some (THING). He is the Creator she is created by Him. I pray for her and for all who have this viewpoint. The Fathers of the Church talked about this and tried to bring people closer to Christ. We as Catholics and Christians should talk about this you don’t have to be and expert in theology just love for your fellow man .

Following Oprah is comfortable. She doesn’t make demands of you. You might have to write a few entries in a grateful journal. She believes in the theory of abundance, that essentially you can “will” things into your life. This is comforting although false. When you watch her Super Soul Sunday show, you can be in pyjamas with a hot cup of coffee. You can fancy yourself the best version of yourself. You can entertain notions that are soft on logic, and be spiritual without defining the word. You can feel unity with your friends.

Compare that to being a Catholic. It’s uncomfortable getting up for Mass on Sunday am. It’s hard being tempted by sin. It’s hard going to Confession with the same sin as last time. It’s hard to even find a time and place to go for Confession. Often you see the worst version of yourself, and need to work at ridding yourself of pride. You know exactly what the Church teaches in concrete terms, and it doesn’t square with your friends’ and colleagues’ view of life. You can barely get yourself to pray, though you know you should.

Why are Catholics so unaccepting of those with non-Catholic/Christian spiritual beliefs?
Ask the same question to Satanists when they mock us or to Atheists when they question our concepts & beliefs !

After that we’ll answer your question…

Don’t know how you came to that conclusion from the posting in this thread

So because others do something it is ok for Catholics also? Catholics don’t need to answer for their actions until other groups do as well? This is not what I was taught as someone who was raised in the Catholic Church.

Wow .you revealed the fact that discussion is not happening. Just 1 opinion after another.

Good demonstration . of lack of discussion. Catholics are dumbed down.
1 go to mass
2 go to confession
3 pray to Mary and saints
4 die .Go to perk-a-tory
