Hi all,

I am new here, so I am not sure if this is the correct sub-forum.

A friend of mine one day showed me with passion an internet site (a German one, sorry guys…) of the Opus Angelorum.

He showed me there that my guardian angel is the arch-angel Metatron.

Now my question: Is the Opus Angelorum a sect or does it belong to the Catholic Church?

In Christ,
Zadkiel

If it is the Bitterlich group, whose website is apparently opusangelorum.org/, then check out the 1992 Vatican statement concerning it: catholicculture.org/culture/library/view.cfm?id=7938. There is also a 1983 statement, but I was only able to find pieces of it.

Other (negative) information, from Unity Publishing: (1) unitypublishing.com/Apparitions/Opus%20Angelorum.htm (2) unitypublishing.com/Apparitions/OpusAngelorumMore.htm.

One of the ploys of the cults is to give a person a superior sense of self, thus your friend’s enticing claim that you are personally guided by an arch-angel. Metatron, btw, serves as the “guide” (more like a demonic one) to Carlos Santana (of the rock group “Santana”).

Opus Angelorum gives retreats just south of here evry year in October. About half of the women in our parish go to them. Also, Fr. Seitz has said Mass at our local NO parish and given talks.

In fact EWTN let Fr. Seitz celebrate Solemn High Mass (EF) sometime during the last year or so at Hanceville. It was broadcast on their TV station.

I have heard of some problems with the German branch but the one from the upper midwest seems to be pretty straight.

Yep! The Opus Angelorum even have a pontifical blessing (www.opusangelorum.org), though, I think the OP is talking about a different Opus Angelorum.

EDIT:I found out that the blessing was for the Order of the Holy Cross, not for the Opus Angelorum, the OHC runs the Opus Angelorum. The Opus Angelorum that I be talking about is fully called the Opus Sanctorum Angelorum.

Hi

thank you for all your posts.

In fact my friend was not talking about Opus Angelorum. But about a sect called circle of the light (in German Lichtkreis.at). I think I mixed them up and only realized now my mistake. Sorry.
I finally also found them in English: circle-of-light.com/Psychic_Readings/metatron.html
This is the Article about Matatron who is my Guardian Angel, as he has said.

I would say this is an esoteric sect, right?

Nevertheless I also know about an Opus Angelorum Church about 20 km away from me which have their masses etc in a medieval castle.

I have mainly heared here, in Austria where I live, about them that they are on the border to become a sect and that they also became problems with the Holy See (I hope this is the correct word in English!?) because they have regularly prophesies of Angels… And they are a mysterium. Hardly noone knows about them because you have to make a vow of silence if you want to be part of them.
This is what I at least have heard…

God bless you all,
Zadkiel
