There is an Evening of Recollection for ladies here in Baltimore and this is how it goes:
7:00 pm The ladies gather informally in the chapel and say the Rosary
7:30 pm The priest gives a 30-minute meditation
8:00 pm The priest goes to the confessional to hear confessions and one of the ladies in charge gives a talk on a practical matter of the spiritual life in another room
8:50 pm The priest gives another 30-minute meditation
9:20 pm Benediction
My husband goes to a Day of Recollection occasionally, and he tells me it starts with a meditation, they break for confessions and the talk, then there’s Mass with a deep homily, and that’s it.
Sometimes the participants try to keep silence, as if it were a day of retreat. In other places, it’s more social.
It’s definitely worth doing, and be especially sure to go to Confession. Those priests are amazing.
Where is it, Arnold Hall?
