Thanks John and Annunciata for the replies! I took home a form to become a cooperator last month, and haven’t yet figured out what to do.:hmmm:
Hi Pug,
Pray that you do God’s will. Being a cooperator is a vocation. Same as marriage, your work, being a son etc are your vocations.http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon14.gif
I will include you in my prayers too. God bless.http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon7.gif

If you’re reading this now, Fox News (Gretta) is doing a report on Opus Dei (fact versus fiction) in a couple minutes
How was the report? Have a synopsis for us?

I was disappointed. It only lasted about 5 minutes. They had a lay woman and a priest on who are Opus Dei members. She seemed very cool and aloof , which some may take as confirming the rumors about Opus Dei being secretive. But, I have a feeling it was unintentional and hopefully she was just nervous. It At least that was my impression. She basically said that Opus Dei allowed her to live her lay wife in a more religous, Catholic way. No real details.

I can’t remember the priest’s name, and I was answering a call from work while he was on so I only caught a few things he said. I just heard him say Opus Dei members attend daily Mass and I think he said they pray 6 hours a day? Those are the only details I remember. He came across very well, I thought, in contrast to the woman.

Sorry I dont’ have more meat to pass on! I dont’ think there was much and unforutunately I got interrupted during the segment.

I was a little disappointed…I felt that the whole interview was a little hurried. I believe the young woman was nervous and the priest was very good…

i know of two parishioners at my church who are involved in Opus Dei… they are very orthodox, and seriuos about their faith. i went with one to a retreat for supernumeraries… and i saw nothing unusual or in conflict with Catholic teaching

The Davinci code is garbage. I and my 2 brothers, one brothers wife are all cooperators in Opus Dei. It is a fantastic organisation. From nothing we have 13/15 of my immediate family practising the faith. 1 is studying the faith and on the way. And the other is getting there slowly. All thanks to opus Dei. Spiritually we are extremely happy. Parents inspired by Opus Dei have starte schools , colleges etc and so the kids are getting a top education, and receiving tremendous spiritual and doctrinal formation at the same time. The benefits are too many to list. Several other people have returned or coverted to the faith as a result of the influence of Opus Dei amongst my family and our friends. The priest are all extremely holy and knowledgeable. And they make themselves available to you. No backstepping.
Needless to say, " I strongly recommend Opus Dei."
How can I find out more about Opus Dei in my local diocess?

Hi Ignatius,
Go to your Chancery Office and they can direct you to a local group of Opus Dei.

Check out this link to help find the locals- opusdei.org/
It has links to other Opus Dei websites. And you can find locations around the globe by clicking on Other Countries in the Write us section. Write an email to them and you will get all the info you request.

I am discerning whether or not to join Opus Dei…I have read all the online info about them…but I am looking for personal experiences with Opus Dei or stories about friends or loved ones who have been a part of Opus Dei…are they a good organization to join? Will they fulfill my spiritual needs? Any info highly appreciated.
Father John McCloskey and,i think,Father Larry Richards as well,
are members of Opus Dei.See catholicity.com
