I think this is great news! cbsnews.com/stories/2010/04/06/ap/national/main6369505.shtml
Yeah I know, but the Opus Dei influence will still be there. It is great news. However, the good Bishop will be responsible to the Pope as a Bishop, not as a member of Opus Dei.
Yes, but which way will the good Bishop go with that?I wish him all the best
Immigration reform is an issue that desperately needs to be discussed
Based on the consistent record of the USCCB, it’s a good bet that he’ll go the catholic way: Press for laws and policies based on the innate dignity of the human person FIRST, and the other rights of property onwership and national sovereignty second.Yes, but which way will the good Bishop go with that?
I will say that I have a growing sense that there is spiritual work going on with immigration and the struggles our nation has over finding a proper solution. I feel there are many things going in the world right now that point to something huge coming and this is just part of that. Maybe I am nuts though.Based on the consistent record of the USCCB, it’s a good bet that he’ll go the catholic way: Press for laws and policies based on the innate dignity of the human person FIRST, and the other rights of property onwership and national sovereignty second.
Sadly, it will be an uphill battle in the current USA culture that pretends that immigration is a choice between an anarchy of invading hordes or a totalitarian wall building program. Lost, as usual, is the voice of principle, subsidiarity and proportionality.
All that aside, the idea that an Opus Dei formed bishop will soon get a red hat is VERY good news indeed! (Better avoid LA, Dan Brown!)
I think you’re correct and it is going to be exciting to watch the Lord. As believers we can admire our King.I will say that I have a growing sense that there is spiritual work going on with immigration and the struggles our nation has over finding a proper solution. Yes, indeed. I have a feeling there won’t be any grandstands to watch from…I think you’re correct and it is going to be exciting to watch the Lord. As believers we can admire our King.
