Today I made and gave a homeless man peanut butter and jelly sandwich using orange marmalade. I was also feeding Jesus by feeding the homeless man.

It’s best to not tell others when we do things like this.

By telling others and getting praise, you have gotten your reward.

But it’s also important not to assume the worst in others. We don’t really know the OP’s true motives for posting here- he might not have posted this to receive praise, after all.

Scripture also states " let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and give glory to God."

Of course there is no dichotomy …Your deeds will indeed shine but we are not to say Look what I did…When you see eg a homeless man eating food that has been given, then we know that good deeds have been done and we give glory to God Who is the source of all goodness.

So it is the deeds we do and not us that shine, The light we shine, not us.

By telling others you may be reminding them to do the same. Do you claim your charitable contributions when you file income tax. That’s telling somebody.
 
As long as homeless people are fed and cared for…let us not lose sight of that need ever.

OP please go on with that work of God… Please!Thinking of you and praying for you…

Take it up with our Lord who told us to not let the right hand know what the left is doing, and when we do good, not to be like the pharisees who lord it over everyone by making a big announcement.

Not that it’s any of your business, but we are low income, and we have nothing to claim for charitable contributions.

Ah…I see. I am low income also. Jesus said many things. Some to taken literally all the time and some not to be taken literally all the time. Do you call the male half of your birth father?

And you are correct it is none of my business. But as the Lord said…you shouldn’t be making an issue of it so that all should know.
