Ordaining Female Catholic Priests

The determining issue is dealing with men who are in the bondage of sin as well as God’s order that He made man the head.

I thought the Church made a definitive statement in 1994 that we have male ordination only.

When I speak of men in bondage of original sin, I am speaking of men who abuse women and see them as property. A woman priestess is called at night to hear a confession, and then it turns into something horrific.

Women are the protected and caring gender. We are life givers in our own right. And we have greater capacity to be abused than men. We have 8 times the grief as well.

I wanted to stay home and care for my children when modern society saw that as being lazy and a slacker, and having my kids take other people’s air. I worked so much harder as a mother, physically, emotionally, and intellectually than I did in my high pressure work. I let go of creative and other pursuits because my children took all my time. I could also see they needed daily supervision, direction, – and re-direction because of the (name removed by moderator)ut and mixed signals from society.

I see the Catholic Church defending my right to stay at home with my children, to be protected against bad men, and to uphold me as a giving, productive citizen to society as a stay at home mother.

That sounds almost prudish…but mothers do alot more than some people realize. Communism was the one that wanted no woman left at home with her kids, because it wanted to raise the child to become a tool for the state.

There is no “revolt”.

Some people are choosing to leave the Catholic Church, to go “do their own thing”. They have the right to choose to do that.

This is not something new, it has been going on for centuries. People decide that they know more than the Church, that they can set the rules for the church, and they become apostates. Then, when they are ex-communicated, they start their own version of a “church”.

With respect, ‘female Catholic priests’ is a simple impossibility, like ‘male pregnancy’.

The Catholic Church has no authority to ordain women. Not then, not now, not ‘ever’. All the speculation in the world is, to put it bluntly, pointless hot air. “Fine minds” instead of wasting their time with this COULD be trying to come up with everything from a cure for cancer to getting lukewarm Catholics fired up to truly establishing peace and justice in the world, but NO, it’s more fun to waggle one’s fingers at the ‘authority’ of the Church and boast of how much better and smarter and more truly ‘loving’ one is by simply ignoring Christ and His teaching as just not ‘advanced’ enough for US.

it still baffles me at times why a person who is so outrightly and adamently opposed to Catholic teaching wants to remain Catholic…why would a person want to remain in an organization that they believe teaches so much error?
Because it is about “me” and what I “feel” and not what Christ said, founded or taught. It is called spiritual pride.

The other side of the coin in our country, is that the worst loss of vocations was with the North American women religious. They were among the best educated and provided for in the world. They had on record some of the greatest loss of vocations in the world.

This is in complete contrast to the Sisters of the Missionaries of Charity. I remember seeing the film on them arriving in San Francisco at their new house, and watching the new rugs, considered as luxuries, being thrown out the windows.

Now married Catholics are picking up the slack from the loss of American vocations. I give the Church much thanks for upholding the married life and especially that of women in our atheistic culture, and protecting our relationship with our own families.

Will never happen. Men (priests) stand in the place of Jesus at the Mass. People who push for women to be priests are applying secular beliefs and arguments. Men alone are called to the priesthood, not women…period! It is not a right, but a calling. More important, to state the CC is wrong for not allowing women is to claim Our Lord Jesus is also wrong and old fashion.
Never is a long time. I’m old enough to remember the time of no altar girls. And I know of women who have been allowed to stand/sit in place of an Apostle on Holy Thursday in a Catholic church and have their feet washed. 🤷

Totally different issue though, it pales in comparison to priest ordination and Holy Orders. I was an altar server back in the 1980’ and I do remember no girls. As for the washing of the feet? Simply “representing” an Apostle getting his feet washed is nothing compared to ordination. Ordination is the issue, not a proxy.

Peace

Is this newchurch some kind of denomination or are you being derogatory about the Catholic Church?
Its a shorthand way when typing, for me to distinguish between the pre-V2 and the post-V2. No offense intended.

Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, it will NEVER happen. Nothing wrong with women, something wrong with lack of authority to ordain females.

I don’t post much but if you watch the second video at 1 min 10 seconds on the website provided on the first post, the woman ‘priest’ states, “For the first 1,200 years we had women deacons, priests, and bishops.”

🤷

Yeah and what she fails to state is their descriptions and roles. If I am correct, a female deaconess did not carry the same duties nor roles as male deacons. Many claim female deacons were forerunners to nuns? I cannot remember where I read the article?

I grew up inside the Protestant church that had not only one woman minister but two therefore telling me that a woman is not qualified to be a priest is hogwash. Aside for listening to confession and the eurcharist, the job is the same across all denominations because as a minister, you are visiting the sick, preaching at least every sunday, guiding people individually in their faith, counselling, encouraging your congergation to follow Christ and more. This follows what women were created by God. Think about it, historically, they were teachers, nurses and raising a house full of children, that pretty much gives us the qualifications to do everything that a priest does. Seriously if religious sisters are allowed to do everything from spend their entire day praying to working in the streets helping the poor, we can certainly hear confession, give absolution, guide a congergation to God and more.

You might be right, Lapey, and I don’t expect it anytime soon nor even in my lifetime here on earth. Pope JPII durng his long Papacy did afterall appoint many conservative Cardinals who in turn have a role in the election of future Popes. But I have no idea if or when the Holy Spirit might lead the Church to a more liberal Pope. I can not foresee into the future to know where God’s Spirit might lead. God bless and peace.

And those women who claim it is hogwash are part of their own hogwash! Apparently they do not understand the priesthood and Jesus. They just want to cater to their egos and pride. And did Jesus choose women to be Apostles? Did Jesus make a mistake? If for 1200 years women were bishops, priests and deacons as the female priest stated, then why is the NT completely silent on female bishops, priests and deacons? Why did Jesus keep silent?

I’ll said it again,to question it is to question Jesus decision. Is Jesus God or not?

Females can’t be ordained. It won’t happen. It doesn’t matter if the pope is liberal - he doesn’t have the power to ordain women. No pope in the future will either. The matter is settled as far as the Church is concerned, so really there is no point debating it.

Exactly! People just want to add their secular beliefs into the mix, plain and simple. The priesthood is not a secular job,but a vocation that only men are called to it.

Woman have never been ordained priests in the Catholic Church and never will be. This is the Church’s declaration on the matter, in the words of John Paul the Great. A link to the full text and an excerpt follow:

QUOTE:
Wherefore, in order that all doubt may be removed regarding a matter of great importance, a matter which pertains to the Church’s divine constitution itself, in virtue of my ministry of confirming the brethren (cf. Lk 22:32) **I declare that the Church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women and that ****this judgment is to be definitively held by all the Church’s faithful.**END QUOTE (color added)
