the oil of the catechumens (blessed) - pure olive oil, and
the holy chrism oil - olive oil mixed with balsam (annually consecrated by the bishop).
Holy chrism oil is part of the baptismal and confirmation rites, during the ordination of a priest, the consecration of a bishop, the consecration of a church, the blessing of an altar and the vessels used at Mass.
