Check this out everyone! I never knew such a group existed:

opuslibani.org.lb/cpco-english/img001.htm

It’s obvious the Council is called “Oriental” from geographical, not theological considerations, since the Melkites are included. Nevertheless, it is an exciting find for me personally, since I identify myself as an “Oriental Catholic” instead of an “Eastern Catholic…”

I wish there would eventually be a standing conference of Oriental Catholic Churches, based on our unique theology and Traditions, which would include the Syro-Malabar and Syro-Malankara Churches.

Blessings

Yes, the council has been around for quite some time now. Apparently, though, they don’t update that website very often: notice that it includes the name of the former Patriarch of the Syriac CC (who resigned well over a year ago), as well as the name of the late Catholicos-Patriarch of Babylon for the Chaldeans, who passed away in 2003.

Strictly speaking, though, the Oriental group wouldn’t include the Syro-Malabarese since they are not Oriental but from the Assyro-Chaldean tradition.

But I found a church building of Syro malabar church at Kanjirapally, Kerala, India inaugrated by Cardinal Cacciavillan who was the delegate of Oriental churches in Vatican. It was constructed in 1970s when Arch bishop Powathil was the bishop of Kanjirapally. After seeing that I thought our Syro malabar church comes in the Oriental group.

Thank you for this ( which i didn’t know myself ! 🙂 ) and hope it answers your question , bro.Marduk , raised on another thread ; thank you for the kind words there too and for your valiant efforts at many levels ; as mentioned here , being of limited knowldege in many things and owing much , to the East and the West , if able to do even part of what been commanded to do , grateful… and may His reminder always be there as to how worthless /unpriftable one is …so as to keep trusting in His mercy alone …

God bless !
