If there were a OO Oriental Church in my area I would visit and check it out.

I’m not sure if you’re looking for information or what, but according to the internet there is a Coptic Orthodox Church about an hour from you, St. Abanoub at 850 South Main Street
Euless, TX 76040. Maybe you could go there and check it out sometime.

Thanks for your help but Euless,TX is not locally in my area.

Sorry. It’s what came up when I put your location into Google, so I’m assuming that it’s the closest church to you (though I didn’t search for others in the communion, so there could be Ethiopian, Eritrean, Armenian, etc. churches closer to you). I feel your pain. The closest Oriental church around here is over an hour away.

I feel very fortunate to have a Coptic church not far from me west of me and several Jacobite churches in the surrounding communities to the east and north. one more than 30 minutes away.

I have never made the effort to visit, but I do think it would be a good idea. 🙂

Yeah, I have one Ethiopian Orthodox parish, one Coptic Orthodox parish, six Chalcedonian Orthodox parishes, one Western Rite monastery and God willing soon to be a Byzantine rite monastery within 15 miles of my home. 🙂

That’s alright. 😉

If you can’t attend the services regularly because of travel/distance issues make a prayer corner and devote time to prayer in your home.

So…you’re saying I should move to Florida? And here I thought God put all those giant bugs and tropical storms over there to keep me out of the area…hmm.

God help me, but I am jealous of you guys. Whenever I tell a Coptic person that I live in California but there are no churches anywhere around here, they’re always confused. “What do you mean? California has soooo many churches!” Yeah, it does, and they’re almost all at the opposite end of a very, very long state! 😦

Wesley: That’s a good idea, about the prayer corner. I don’t have any Coptic icons, but I do have some Byzantine icons I have inherited from my grandmother, who brought them back from a visit to Russia in 1991. I just need to find space to set them up properly.
