St. Francis de Sales originally wanted the nuns of the Order of the Visitation (which he founded with St. Jane Frances de Chantal) to have no cloister and to do works of mercy. However, he was obliged to put the nuns under cloister and have them adopt the rule of St. Augustine. I’ve found the rule of St. Augustine online, but not the original rule that St. Francis de Sales wrote.

If you can help me find a copy of St. Francis de Sales’ original rule for the Visitation nuns online, I would be very grateful. Many thanks!

I didn’t have time to look through this too well, but perhaps it is what you are looking for or might possibly lead you to what you are seeking. God bless.
