I have some problem… I’m not catholic any more. Yeap. After whole my present life.

One of the issues was original sin…

Imagine situation you are going to conceive baby (conceive, it’s not yet there), but you know that this baby will have “spiritual cancer” called original sin. Would you like to conceive baby with deadly sickness? No, there is no option it will be healthy, 100% of babies have this “cancer” (expect some choose one… like Mary, BTW. Why we all are not like a Mary? Than nobody would have to kill Jesus…).

What people did to God (this people today) that they are “guilty” of sins of Adam and Eve? 🤷. Who sane would choose to object GOD?

Original sin is one of the easiest doctrines of the Faith to accept, I experience its effects each day. It is more obvious to any reflection human person than many other articles of our religion.
All human beings share a particular communion and what one does certainly affects another. If you parents are of the working classes, you will end up with lower social opportunities that those higher in the social ‘hierarchy’. That is just the way things are. The offspring would not be ‘guilty’ of this relative poverty, and neither are those who are conceived post-Adam of sin.

Also, no one even deserves to exist, never mind to live in complete ‘health’. All is a grace and a gift.

Many people who are otherwise sane choose to object to God.

It is simply part of being human. We inherit the stain of Original Sin (and therefore, a propensity to sin) from Adam and Eve, just as we inherit the Free Will that God gave them. Adam and Eve used their Free Will and chose to doubt God and fell from God’s grace.

We are blessed in that we can use the gift for Free Will to choose to follow Christ, Who died that we might be rid of the stain of Original Sin through our baptism and join the personal family of God.

I see Original Sin as the reason we cannot achieve Heaven on our own merits; we need Jesus.

I hope this is of some use to you…

We only reveal our acceptance of God by our actions, which would speak of our love for Him as well as our neighbor. The “cancer” you’re speaking of already exists in humankind. It consists of our separation from Him which consists of our lack of faith in, hope in, and love for Him. This constitutes our “lostness”, the condition of being born into a world where we don’t know where we came from if anywhere, what we’re to do here, if anything, or where we’re going, if anywhere. This condition is changed as we come to know God.

Further proof of this condition is the fact that mans’ will, not Gods’, reigns on this earth and has produced a great deal of misery, strife, pain, warfare, etc. In other words,* reason *doesn’t necessarily rule-and evil exists. Another giveaway is the universality of human shame. These and other conditions point to a disorder-something out of whack-existing in the universe. The only other alternative is to say that all human activity including rape, torture, murder, pedophilia is natural for mankind, otherwise no one would choose these options.

If we start from the basis that something’s wrong here on planet earth, then the doctrine of original sin begins to make sense, whether or not we believe it to be fair.

I would encourage you to read and reflect on what the Church says about Original Sin in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC). Look at CCC 396-409. In particular, look at CCC 404:

404 How did the sin of Adam become the sin of all his descendants? The whole human race is in Adam “as one body of one man”. [293] By this “unity of the human race” all men are implicated in Adam’s sin, as all are implicated in Christ’s justice. Still, the transmission of original sin is a mystery that we cannot fully understand. But we do know by Revelation that Adam had received original holiness and justice not for himself alone, but for all human nature. By yielding to the tempter, Adam and Eve committed a personal sin, but this sin affected the human nature that they would then transmit in a fallen state. [294] It is a sin which will be transmitted by propagation to all mankind, that is, by the transmission of a human nature deprived of original holiness and justice. And that is why original sin is called “sin” only in an analogical sense: it is a sin “contracted” and not “committed” - a state and not an act.

[293] St. Thomas Aquinas, De Malo 4,1.
[294] Cf. Council of Trent: DS 1511-1512

Basically, it all has to do with the fact that we are all united in one human family.

Also, this Original Sin is wiped away in Baptism, so such a thought should not dissuade anyone from having children.

It’s not about that I don’t see that “all people are failing all the time”. This is actually the problem. Because of original sin we have “broken nature”, it’s like a cancer nobody have a cure and we life with.

Exactly things are “just as they are” and nothing can change that. We are born in particular environments, which shape us like a tree which is growing alone on the field or in a forest. How different they are, but the same…

PS. Deserve to live? Why I don’t deserve to live? Did I asked to be alive and than when I’m alive I don’t even deserve it? I’m like a dog who didn’t jump enough high (oooo… forget this original sin which make all of us weak…) and don’t deserve bone to eat?
Many people who are otherwise sane choose to object to God.

Imagine yourself driving highway 75 MPH. You got amazing idea, that you should try to drive on the LEFT side where there is nice large truck, and you hit this truck with clarity of a mind etc. (here all conditions to commit mortal sin).

Traffic law is a God’s law, your decision to hit truck (a mortal sin).

Than there is other situation. You hit this truck because your tire blow… (venial sin).

In first case there would be no NORMAL (sane) person to try “hit a truck”) in other case it was clearly accident (original sin and it’s consequences!? “tara”).

I hope God don’t put insane people to hell, and for sure this one who “accidentally” did “bad”…

But people (I) didn’t make any decision to “reject God”. I didn’t ask to be “separated from God”. What is my guilt in this what Adam and Eve did to all people (me to 🙂 )?

Why I have to see a rape to believe in God? I’m sick and tired of evil, I’m sick and tired of wars, torture, murder, pedophilia. I’m sick and tired of sin. SICK AND TIRED of how this word function.

And where is a Father of this world? He left all his children and is hiding in heaven (and there apparently every body is happy…).

What kind of father would like to leave his own children alone and just send “sms massages”: I love you always, take care “I’m watchin you”. (PS. And I do know that God is interfering in world… accordingly to Teaching of a Church).
If we start from the basis that something’s wrong here on planet earth, then the doctrine of original sin begins to make sense, whether or not we believe it to be fair.
Yes, there is something WRONG with this planet. You got my point.

PS. Sorry for “hard” talk, but I just saw all of this… during Sunday Mass. THIS Sunday Mass.

But people (I) didn’t make any decision to “reject God”. I didn’t ask to be “separated from God”. What is my guilt in this what Adam and Eve did to all people (me to 🙂 )?
No, the decision and separation are already in place. Otherwise we’d be walking with God now. We confirm this decision ourselves every time* we* sin, i.e. every time we act outside the will of God we confirm that we prefer being separated from Him. Of course this doesn’t apply if you don’t believe in “sin”, that is, if you don’t believe that it’s possible for humans to commit moral evil, to act out of character or out of line with their own natures. But this would imply that you don’t believe in moral responsibility.
Why I have to see a rape to believe in God? I’m sick and tired of evil, I’m sick and tired of wars, torture, murder, pedophilia. I’m sick and tired of sin. SICK AND TIRED of how this word function.
Yes, that’s why I believe in the doctrine of original sin. It explains the existence of evil-as being an abuse or corruption of human freewill.
And where is a Father of this world? He left all his children and is hiding in heaven (and there apparently every body is happy…).
We left Him. That’s why we’re not happy.
What kind of father would like to leave his own children alone and just send “sms massages”: I love you always, take care “I’m watchin you”. (PS. And I do know that God is interfering in world… accordingly to Teaching of a Church).
Yes, he’s trying to draw us back to Himself-without forcing it upon us. He doesn’t want to leave us alone. That’s why He came in the Incarnation. It’s a way, among other things, of getting our attention without coercing it.
Yes, there is something WRONG with this planet. You got my point.
I thought that was my point. 🙂

No, the decision and separation are already in place. Otherwise we’d be walking with God now.
I REALLY, REALLY would like to walk with God :).
We confirm this decision ourselves every time* we* sin, i.e. every time we act outside the will of God we confirm that we prefer being separated from Him.
How can you act “outside of God will”? (serious question)
Of course this doesn’t apply if you don’t believe in “sin”, that is, if you don’t believe that it’s possible for humans to commit moral evil, to act out of character or out of line with their own natures. But this would imply that you don’t believe in moral responsibility.
How can you be morally responsible:

a) carrying burden of original sin,
b) obeying commandment of God (I don’t have any slightest desire to “hit a truck” when I “drive a car of my life” 😉 )
Yes, that’s why I believe in the doctrine of original sin. It explains the existence of evil-as being an abuse or corruption of human freewill.
If my freewill is corrupted… what is my responsibility…
We left Him. That’s why we’re not happy.
I didn’t leave God. Did I meet Him somewhere? Can I feed all starving children of the world, cloth nagged, feed hungry? NO I CAN’T. But Jesus is there… There is ALWAYS someone I can’t feed…etc.
Yes, he’s trying to draw us back to Himself-without forcing it upon us. He doesn’t want to leave us alone. That’s why He came in the Incarnation. It’s a way, among other things, of getting our attention without coercing it.
Incarnation is one of the other thinks I stopped to believe… As I mentioned… I don’t believe in Eucharist any more (But this would be off-topic).
I thought that was my point. 🙂
Thank you for your answers. Really.
Ps. Can I write on this forum? I really don’t feel catholic anymore.

I REALLY, REALLY would like to walk with God :).
How can you act “outside of God will”? (serious question)
Well, the serious answer is that this is the very freedom that our free will gives us-and it’s the very freedom Adam & Eve abused by committing the original sin. God doesn’t create evil; He allows us to act outside His will. Do you think His will is done on earth now?
How can you be morally responsible:

a) carrying burden of original sin,
b) obeying commandment of God (I don’t have any slightest desire to “hit a truck” when I “drive a car of my life” 😉 )
I guess I don’t quite follow you on this but anything we do which compromises love for God or neighbor is the breaking of a commandment-which is simply another way to say that, as we come to love, the commandments are fulfilled.
If my freewill is corrupted… what is my responsibility…
I meant that the Original Sin, committed by Adam & Eve, was an abuse of human freedom. We can still tell right from wrong-but don’t always do the right that we know we should.
I didn’t leave God. Did I meet Him somewhere?
Humankind left God through Adam. God’s only telling us we have to recognize our loss and our need and return to Him-and He’s provided the way. If you think everything’s perfect the way it is now, that’s up to you.
Can I feed all starving children of the world, cloth nagged, feed hungry? NO I CAN’T. But Jesus is there… There is ALWAYS someone I can’t feed…etc.
God’s determined that we be His hands here on earth. Do you do everything you can do to feed the poor?
Incarnation is one of the other thinks I stopped to believe… As I mentioned… I don’t believe in Eucharist any more (But this would be off-topic).
Funny, I just started really believing in it-and I left the Church for over 25 years! I didn’t like believing in something just because somebody else told me it was true.
Thank you for your answers. Really.
Ps. Can I write on this forum? I really don’t feel catholic anymore.
Sure, honesty’s always the best road to travel.

Q:Why someone would like to commit sin against God?
God doesn’t create evil; He allows us to act outside His will. Do you think His will is done on earth now?
I know “He doesn’t”, but I don’t want to act against His will! So HOW TO recognize it?! How to be SURE it’s His will, not mine?!

His will done on earth. Yes.
I guess I don’t quite follow you on this but anything we do which compromises love for God or neighbor is the breaking of a commandment-which is simply another way to say that, as we come to love, the commandments are fulfilled.
Q: Why someone would like to commit sin against God? (I asked for it earlier…). I don’t understand WHY I would like to go against will of God. When I know it’s BEST think for me in my life!

Q2: How to recognize God’s will?!
I meant that the Original Sin, committed by Adam & Eve, was an abuse of human freedom. We can still tell right from wrong-but don’t always do the right that we know we should.

But why humankind has to suffer their… stupidity (sorry Adam and Eve…THIS WAS STUPID 😉 ).
God’s determined that we be His hands here on earth. Do you do everything you can do to feed the poor?
Can we? Can we do it? Yes, from my side I do. Do I do EVERYTHING. NO, I should sell EVERYTHING and be hungry like them, since now I have something to eat.
Funny, I just started really believing in it-and I left the Church for over 25 years! I didn’t like believing in something just because somebody else told me it was true.
Sure, honesty’s always the best road to travel.
I think I’m “back”…Rosary with my friend and Jesus on the Cross…but please answer my questions…

Q:Why someone would like to commit sin against God?
Perhaps they were deceived into thinking that they were not behaving sinfully; remember, God has an adversary, Satan, whom we call the Great Deceiver.

Perhaps, through their imperfect understanding of God’s Word or His Church, they misunderstand the nature of what they are doing. I think God would be merciful to them if they were ignorant of their sin.

Or perhaps they worship Satan, or do not believe in God at all.
…I don’t want to act against His will! So HOW TO recognize it?! How to be SURE it’s His will, not mine?!
Confess your sins; perform penance; receive absolution; attend Mass; and most importantly, pray daily for understanding of God’s Will.
But why humankind has to suffer their… stupidity (sorry Adam and Eve…THIS WAS STUPID 😉 ).
Yes, it was; remember, they were deceived by Satan.

Peace be unto you, Koko81; offer up your anxiety and pain to God, uniting your suffering to Christ’s suffering on the Cross. May He lift up your heart, and give you peace.

Perhaps they were deceived into thinking that they were not behaving sinfully; remember, God has an adversary, Satan, whom we call the Great Deceiver.
Sure, but they were DECEIVED. So, if there would be no Satan in Eden… they would not sin. In general they didn’t commit mortal sin :), even when they rejected God. I think Adam and Eve ARE in heaven (this would be a Catholic teaching).
Perhaps, through their imperfect understanding of God’s Word or His Church, they misunderstand the nature of what they are doing. I think God would be merciful to them if they were ignorant of their sin.
This is my point… we have “imperfect nature”. I just got a point (in last months) that God who I was believing is NOT Catholic God…, but now how can I know “this version of God” is correct?

Do you know how you feel when you need to redesign ALL idea about God… you believe? Today I truly understand people who “convert”…maybe this is my way of understanding them?
Or perhaps they worship Satan, or do not believe in God at all.
How to know a difference?
Confess your sins; perform penance; receive absolution; attend Mass; and most importantly, pray daily for understanding of God’s Will.
I’m not able. I go to confession, do penance, receive absolution, attend daily Mass (for years), pray daily, pray rosary, go to religious education, bible studies, document studies, read tons of catholic books and I don’t know who am I :). Oh and I did RCIA like 4 times :).
Yes, it was; remember, they were deceived by Satan.
So, they didn’t reject God by their own will, since they were deceived. If I would manipulate some person, educate them wrongly what is they guilt in actions they do?
Peace be unto you, Koko81; offer up your anxiety and pain to God, uniting your suffering to Christ’s suffering on the Cross. May He lift up your heart, and give you peace.
Cross and Jesus there… yes. Only one thing which keeps me believing…it’s one of the most difficult times in my life… 😦 (and knowing life will be even harder…)

Sure, but they were DECEIVED. So, if there would be no Satan in Eden… they would not sin. In general they didn’t commit mortal sin :), even when they rejected God. I think Adam and Eve ARE in heaven (this would be a Catholic teaching).
Satan was created as a perfect angel. Why did he rebel? He had no other satan to tempt Him.
This is my point… we have “imperfect nature”. I just got a point (in last months) that God who I was believing is NOT Catholic God…, but now how can I know “this version of God” is correct?
You missed the point because the other poster wrote “imperfect understanding” not imperfect nature.

There is only one God. They only way you can “know” that the Catholic explanation is correct is to accept the historical truth the God established an earthly Church and protected it from error.
Do you know how you feel when you need to redesign ALL idea about God… you believe? Today I truly understand people who “convert”…maybe this is my way of understanding them?
No, I have no idea what this feels like.

Sound like very little of the “head” knowledge made it to the heart. Has anyone taught you how to love?
So, they didn’t reject God by their own will, since they were deceived. If I would manipulate some person, educate them wrongly what is they guilt in actions they do?
Their guilt is in having been given the ability to know they were being deceived. God gave them the truth, they rejected it.
Cross and Jesus there… yes. Only one thing which keeps me believing…it’s one of the most difficult times in my life… 😦 (and knowing life will be even harder…)
Matt.11

  1. *]28] Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Satan was created as a perfect angel. Why did he rebel? He had no other satan to tempt Him.
It’s hard to talk about Satan…especially when even Church don’t know why he rebelled. Can anybody tell me why he rebelled?

He was “the smartest” and made the most stupid mistake I could think of. It’s like taking gun and shooting myself in head.
You missed the point because the other poster wrote “imperfect understanding” not imperfect nature.

There is only one God. They only way you can “know” that the Catholic explanation is correct is to accept the historical truth the God established an earthly Church and protected it from error.
But THERE are errors. Church is basically learning about nature all the time… from beginning, it’s quite easy to see that how particular thinks are ADOPTED because our knowledge of world is changing.

Even idea about GOD is… changing… one God (not any three persons)… now one God (three persons) etc.

It’s like God is changing in together with our understanding, but this changes are DRASTIC.
No, I have no idea what this feels like.
Confused? Because stuff I believed become mistake for me. Imagine yourself you are Muslim 🙂 and now become catholic…
Sound like very little of the “head” knowledge made it to the heart. Has anyone taught you how to love?
I scientist :), when I was 3 :).
Their guilt is in having been given the ability to know they were being deceived. God gave them the truth, they rejected it.
When I know I’m deceived… I don’t talk to people who lye to me about reality.

I don’t know where to begin but to say that the “cancer” you speak of is in fact curable, through faith in God’s grace, acceptance of Christ’s redemptive work for us, and attempting to do God’s will for us here on earth to the best of our abilities, the reward for which is everlasting life.

Sounds like a deal to me!

From this what I know baptism doesn’t change our “brokenness”. How many people who are baptized and in jails?

Actually I don’t see any effects of baptism… from real stand point of view. You take two people a) baptized and b) not baptized. How you would tell difference?

Once upon a time (when I was born) babies were vaccinated for a sickness that they weren’t manifesting yet but, would manifest if left unchecked. I have a big mark on my left shoulder of that vaccine.

Nowadays mothers are asked if they want their baby to recieve the Hepatitis B shot. Some mother (majority) say yes. Others (very small minority) say no.

Unlike the illness I was vaccinated against (which has been irradicated), original sin is still around.

Hope you see some light in this analogy.

God bless you and your baby.

Eventually future baby… This is one of a problems. I can’t justify reason I would bring baby to the world… to make it suffer, be confused, dye, possibly go to hell :).

It’s like a lottery. Is he going to “win a life”… nobody knows!

PS. Vaccine has immediate effect in your body, your immune system in responding for antigens, which are producing antibodies. You can check it basically in couple of days, even without getting disease itself. You see effects of vaccination.

How do I check effects of baptism? I was baptized and I have no idea who AM I. I go to church, I was even today in confession… did I wanted to lose my faith? NO. So, why I was in confession?

It’s like being catholic but don’t know why. Catholic agnostic 😃

Q:Why someone would like to commit sin against God?
Because they weren’t wise enough to recognize His wisdom? And decided they knew better? This is the basis of Original Sin-and the origin of all human self-righteousness, BTW, which opened the door for all sins that followed.
I know “He doesn’t”, but I don’t want to act against His will! So HOW TO recognize it?! How to be SURE it’s His will, not mine?!
Well, He gave us the commandments-the Law- for that purpose-so that we could come to recognize our own sinfulness. But all sin starts in the heart and is a result of not loving God or neighbor as we ought.
His will done on earth. Yes.
God allows His will to not be done on earth-this is how radically free we are.
Q: Why someone would like to commit sin against God? (I asked for it earlier…). I don’t understand WHY I would like to go against will of God. When I know it’s BEST think for me in my life!
People don’t always do what they know is right. “The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak”. Read Romans 7.
Q2: How to recognize God’s will?!
That’s a life-long process. We’re to continue to seek Him and grow in faith and knowledge of Him, while He, the Potter, molds us. We just need to be open to it and He does the teaching/changing.
Give me example, please :). What we don’t do what we should do? And will this be a sin (mortal vs. venial)
We’re culpable for sin to the extent that we know it’s wrong. Just gossiping about someone because it “feels” right or good reveals our lack of love for neighbor. Or being jealous of what someone does or has. And people convince themselves that even the worst crimes are justifiable.
But why humankind has to suffer their… stupidity (sorry Adam and Eve…THIS WAS STUPID 😉 ).
Maybe we all would’ve done what they did-I don’t know. In any case we all fell corporately and we have the opportunity to recognize our condition and be restored individually. The key to the New Covenant is that man* needs* God in order to be able to abide in the spirit and live as he was created to live-to love as he was created to love-as opposed to trying to be obedient on his own-and failing.
