The question is completely illogical because Jesus did not die to rid the world of original sin. As stated, it can’t be answered.
What did Jesus ACTUALLY die for? Jesus died to pay for the wages of sin, which is eternal death. This did not remove the stain of original sin, nor did it somehow make all other rites of the church unnecessary. What it did was opened us up to receive grace, and through grace to accept Christ’s death on our behalf. Baptism, like any other rite of the church, is commanded by Christ Himself, and serves to open us up to the flow of God’s grace into our lives.
And remember, Jesus Himself was baptized, though He was without sin, as an example for us to follow. Baptism is what makes you a Christian. By being baptized, you are saying that you are living your life for God. That washes away your original sin. That’s your promise to Him, which is why it is required of us.
