Does the Vatican have Original texts? If not how did we get the translations from today…
Most of the “original texts” don’t exist anymore, atleast not the ones St. Jerome used when he translated the Bible into Latin, however the Vatican does have Codex Vaticanus, which was written in the 4th Century.Does the Vatican have Original texts? The Dead Sea Scrolls proved that copies were about 98% accurate and discrepancies were minor, like spelling errors only. However, we have far more manuscripts of books of the Bible that have survived from classical times than we do of the Iliad, the Odyssey, and the Aeneid.
Thousands more, in fact.
Also, both Jewish and Christian copying of books of the Bible has generally been very careful, and copies have been frequently compared and corrected throughout the history of the books. In general, this system for transmission of information has worked quite well down the centuries.
