Orthodox-Anglican Dialogue breakdown?

He suggests they totally, utterly STOP it. The ACNA is split on WO, sadly. The more orthodox, faithful-to-tradition bishops like Schofield and Iker are opposed to it and forbid it in their dioceses. ++Duncan, the head of ACNA, allows it and still actively ordains women.

What about CANA and AMIA? In some parts of ACNA it is increasing!

Well then some did stop it. The issue is that the ones who split have no control over the fact that the others continue to ordain women. It creates quite a mess, and shows that there is no one Anglican position on the issue. The Orthodox are right, it does create a mess.

Ironically, some of the pro women’s ordination people I have studied with when I was in the Assemblies of God (they ordain women) take the position-held by evangelist Charles Finney-that revival is hindered by taking the wrong position on social issues. Modern day revival is hindered because many churches have taken the wrong stance-against-women’s ordination. Yes, they even compared it to slavery of African Americans. Crazy.

I am not at all familiar with those bodies. Regardless of which bodies ordain women to the priesthood within the Anglican communion and those who do not, the fact that there is so much confusion about it has to be problematic. The disunity on the issue is likely as much a problem to dialogue with the Orthodox as the heterodox practice of WO itself.

CANA is convocation of anglicans in north america, an early conservative anglican body that helped form ACNA. Now they’re back-peddling on W.O. and also no longer officially an ACNA member, just a “prayer partner” or some cheesy designation like that.

Then AMIA: Anglican Mission in the Americas, another early group to help form ACNA, they did an exhaustive study deciding AGAINST W.O. Now they’re having second thoughts and Christ Church Plano, one of their mega churches, is going rogue on the issue.

Contradiction and chaos abound…welcome to Anglicanism! LOL
