i just know that the anglican church and many others here in the u.s.a. that were forming after leaving their episcopal diocese were going under the protection of archbishop orombi of uganda. they seemed very evangelical and more protestant than the episcopal church. i could tell a difference in the sermons and other things. i wish them well, but it wasn’t for me. that is when i decided i need to become fully catholic and joined the RCC.There are differences within African Anglicanism, but they’re not as pronounced as they are in Europe and America (the ordination of women is one such area where different African provinces differ). In any case the more Anglo-Catholic folks within the AC and the Continuum are leery (at best, denigrating at worst) of most of the African churches since their brand of Anglicanism is much more evangelical/protestant flavored than what they think is proper for Anglicans.
I’m not sure if the feeling is mutual, since I can’t recall ever seeing anything from Abp Orombi or Akinola etc regarding the theological issues that divide the two factions.
