My sister in law’s boyfriend wants to baptize thier daughter orthodox. My siter in law is catholic. I was under the understanding that as long as it is Christian baptism it’s ok. What is the major differences anyway?

An Orthodox Baptism is done by triple (& full) immersion followed immediately by Chrismation (Confirmation), Tonsure & Holy Eucharist & also includes Christian naming of the child. The boyfriend/father would need to be committed to raising the girl Orthodox.

The Catholic Church does acknowledge the Orthodox Baptism as Valid.

I thought as long as you baptize “in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit” it is legitimate by the Catholic Church.

Yes, I believe so.

The Orthodox Baptism goes above & beyond that 🙂
