Orthodox Bible and books not in the Catholic or Protestant bibles?

Just read thru (for the first time) the assention of our Holy Mother Mary into Heaven in one of the books in the Orthodox Bible. I quess my big question is; “Why wasn’t this book along with all the other Books in the Orthadox Bible included in the Catholic and Protestant versions of the Holy Bible”? If these books were included it would answer allot of subjects argued between Protestants and Catholics. Especially in the area of our Holy Mother Mary not dying, but assending directly into Heaven. Why, were these books not included???:confused: What do traditional Catholics believe about Mother Mary in regards to these books? Any (name removed by moderator)ut would be deeply appreciated!

I assume you’re refering to the Ethiopian Orthodox, who have a massive canon.

The NT of the Eastern Orthodox is the same as that of the Catholics and the Protestants.

The only difference in the number of books as compared to the Catholic & Protestant Bibles is in the Old Testament.

While the Orthodox have a continued Tradition regarding the lives of St. Anna and Joachim, the events concerning the entire life of the Theotokos through to her Dormition, it is not found in the Orthodox Bible. Just because it is not written in Sacred Scripture does not make it any less of a Tradition. The Orthodox Liturgies and Calendar year has kept the Tradition alive and accurate.

It looks like a Catholic source. I’m unable to read it all for accuracy, but for an Orthodox source for th Traditions regarding Mary (not part of Orthodox Bible) is The Life of the Virgin Mary, the Theotokos Vol. 4 Published by Holy Apostles Convent and Dormition Skete, Buena Vista, CO 81211 copyright 1989 ISBN # 0-944359-03-5
