Orthodox Canon Bibles, please help.

I’ve also read about an RSV which included books of the EO cannon.

RSV, Expanded Edition of 1977

Does any one here own a copy, ot use one for personal devotion or study?

I use the Oxford Study Bible-Expanded Edition RSV (in the '70’s named “The Common Bible”.

I’m considering buying a Young’s Literal Translation in the future. Not Catholic or Orthodox cannon, of course, but seems like a solid, unique, and uniquely literal translation.

but wasn’t sure of the books Apostolic Orthodox approval. I was really hoping to have a collection, from every Orthodox Church, but the Ethiopian Canon may be too hard to find in English.

In looking at the collection in that book, I doubt that the Ethiopiac Canon is included, despite its claim to that effect. The major flag for me is that for six or seven books, it does not list both the Ethiopiac version and the Greek/Syriac/Aramaic text.

All that said, i did stumble across a purported translation of the Ethiopiac Canon of 81 (Narrower Canon) into English. The only reviews I found for it, were on either on “crowd sourcing sites” or “fan sites”.

I got this ‘bible’ off of Amazon uk, would have liked some authorization from a patriarch but hey,… it’s got all the books and this guy, God bless him, must’ve done loads of work.

I have no problem with the NRSV…I know many of our conservative brethren don’t particularly like it because it uses “inclusive language” in some parts…I have a copy of it…I like the RSV better…for no other reason than that is the personal version I use. I highly recommend the Oxfrod Study Bible, Expanded Edition with Apocrypha/Deuterocanonicals.

There is an overview of each book…and a section on history. The Oxford Study Bible Expanded Edition is now in edition 3…NRSV…with more notes and helps than edition 2 which I purchased back in the late 80’s.

I use other translations and commentaries when I need to understand the background of a particular passage.
