Not only is the word “gentile” in no way derogatory, Non Jews who risked their lives to save Jews during the Shoah are honored in Israel as “righteous gentiles”.
If one wants to understand the basis of Judaism and the Jewish State of Israel, all you have to do is to understand, why, seemingly in contradiction to every self interest, Israel took in and sheltered Bosnian Moslem refugees.
