I found this interesting and thought I’d share.

The monk in question starts at about 3 minutes in.

He said something incredible, along the lines of if you cut my arm I’ll bleed, if you cut my leg I’ll bleed, in the same way, my heart should hurt for you. There would be much more peace between people if we could feel with out hearts (paraphrased).

Incredible, that there are still people like this in the world. It reminded me of JReducation and his brothers, who dont wear anything on their feet when indoors and live a simple life of prayer.

These guys seem to only exist for prayer, he says prayer is like doing the laundry - it polishes the soul.

These guys, as far as I’m concerned, are the special forces in our spiritual warfare. 😃

Laymen are the frontline troops, priests and church officials are the officers, monks and ascetics are the guys who fly into Entebbe airport, kill all the terrorists, save all the hostages, blow up all the enemy planes, and fly away to victory. 😃

That line should read … ‘‘feel with our hearts’’ - not, feel with out hearts!!

Indeed.

I understood him to be saying if we could feel pain and bleeding in our hearts as physically as we do when we literally cut each other or a limb then we would be much more sensitive with each other and more careful to as he said love our neighbor as ourselves as commanded by Christ.
 
I’m always, always, always moved to hear people speak like this. It reminds me of Pope John Paul The Great’s attempts to have his would be assasin freed from prison, because he had already personally forgiven him. As well as (and I’m sorry I don’t have the link) a individual I read about, whom died as a result of complications due to a gun shot wound which happend 20 years previous. The state of texas was seeking the shooter on capitol charges, but the wife released a statement saying “my husband once re-encountered his would be killer. The man was very apprihensive, but my husband told him that he had already forgiven him for what he did, and did not wish to see any charges brought against him ever”.

Emotional pain and wounds, wounds of the heart, may be more severe, hurt more, than physical wounds. It is a different kind of agony. The shedding of blood signifies physical wounds. Outward manifestations of wounds to the heart are tears. God has designed the human creature this way. There is no need to change. We already do feel pain in our hearts.

At Calvary Jesus shed His blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant, and Mary her tears. The wounds of the eternal high priest still plead for us sinners, and so do His holy mother’s tears.
 
Too bad many of these people’s writings are not available in English.Here is an excerpt from father Arsenie writtings available in romanian.
 
One book is The young, the family and children born with chains. Another book is THE WAY OF THE KINGDOM and talks about going to Heaven. Is not exactly Jesus Prayer but more homilies and treats much how sins get into genes.

I’m confused, AdrianP. I thought the Orthodox rejected the idea of inherited sin?
 
Exodus 20:2–17
5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me,
6 but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments.
