Hi everyone sorry I havn’t been around lately but I gave birth earlier this year to my fifth child so I have been busy, busy, busy!

Today I was researching the old way before vatican 11, Talk about confusing:( And I pretty much understand most of the chisms that happened, unfortunatly one of the sites I hit on Orthodox catholicism listed cannons of the church where Ordination could be done for openly homosexual persons. I was wondering if this was something that all orthodox catholic churches allow or if the sight I hit was a fake orthodox site, and if it is a real site then how does one equate that teaching with what the bible teaches?

If it was real, my guess is that it that they would still have to obey the same rules and take the same vows as anyone else.

Did you get that from doing a web search?

I know that there a lot of denominations mostly with an internet presence, that use names like Old Catholic, Orthodox Catholic, Ecumenical Catholic, that are really nothing of the sort. A lot of them ordain openly practising homosexuals to their “ministries”.

There are literally hundredsn of them, self-ordaining, self appointing etc.

They are “fake churches”.

pipper,

Yes I did an internet search. Orthodox Catholic Church, and the site that came up was the American Orthodox Catholic Church I thought it might be a “fake” church after reading the cannons but I wasn’t sure because I could not find another site to compare it to. The amount of information I came accross was very confusing and a lot of it was contradictory.

Yes, you got one of those internet “fake” churches.

The ordaining of practising gays tipped you off that something wasn’t kosher.

Remember when you do a search thir computer is just responding the the key words you type in. As far as I know there is no genuine “American Orthodox Catholic Church” just one of those off-color one that you got. They just call themselves by that name.

Do these searches and try to spell them corectly:

Orthodox Church in America

Greek Orthodox Archdiocese in North America.

I think you should get what you are looking for.

orthodoxanswers.org/index.asp is a good site.

What you found was an ancient text used for sort of brotherhood ceremony to continue on pagan practices of brotherly adoption (from my understanding at least). The ceremony has been grossly misinterpreted by pseudo scholars like John Boswell and turned into a sort of gay marriage ceremony. The groups that support this are not the canonical Orthodox Church nor the Communion of Catholic Churches. They are generally split offs from the “Old Catholic” church that formed after VI in opposition to it.

Is there a real Orthodox site I can get information from?
scoba.us/ «= Standing Conference of the Canonical Orthodox Bishops of America (Eastern Orthodox Communion)

orthodoxwiki.org «= editors restricted wiki; pretty good. again, Eastern Orthodox Communion.

copticpope.org/ «= official site of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, head of the Oriental Orthodox Communion and the Primate of the Coptic Orthodox Church. Much of the site is in Arabic, tho’.
