Orthodox Priest Blessing

I am a long term renter from a man who recently became an Orthodox priest. Would it be ok to ask him to bless the house (we will probably continue to live here a long time), or should this be done by a Roman Catholic priest.
 
I’m no expert but as long as its done in the name of the Trinity i guess its ok

While the Orthodox aren’t in communion with Rome, the blessings of their clergy, right up to the consecration of the Eucharist, are as valid as ours. There shouldn’t be a problem at all in asking him to bless the house (and it’s a good ecumenical gesture). When you get a chance for a Catholic priest to drop in, you can ask him to do the same–the more the merrier!
 
I can’t see a problem with it even from a Roman Perspective. (I am Anglo-Catholic). Despite the disagreements the Roman Church has with the Eastern Churches, the Orthodox Churches are highly favored by the Papacy.
 
I don’t see why not. Of course its still better to get your own pastor to do the blessing because he is our pastor. But I’d gladly accept blessings from Orthodox clergy.

Our home was Blessed by a good orthodox Anglican Priest…since blessing a residence…is akin to a “sacramental” Blessing…not an actual SACRAMENT…it is fine…the only Buildings which MUST be Blessed in a “Regular” Fashion are …Sacred Sites…Churches…Cathedrals…and a few others…SO…unless the SEE has granted you “Cum Privlagio” :):)🙂 and you have a Private Chapel with the Sacrament present…it will not matter (for anyone who has read the Novel : Windswept House…interesting story…the “Gladstone’s” in the Novel are loosely based on an actual Texas Family…that Actually holds this Privilege! I have actually seen it…👍🙂 That would be pretty cool!

Orthodox Clergy, if of one of the EO Communion or OO Communion, or Ukrainian Orthodox (who are not in communion with the EO Communion, but are for all intents EO), have fully valid orders.

You can ask him. Be prepared for him to say, “No.”

If he’d hear it and grant absolution*, you could go to him for confession even. Odds are, however, he wouldn’t.
  • Many orthodox priests don’t have faculties to hear confessions.

A “blessing” by an anglican is a blessing by a layman dressed and mislead to believe he’s a cleric, from the Catholic point of view.
