Your negative language confirms and reveals your distaste to Apostolic Authority. But how you judge and feel personally is between you and God, not the reality that existed and exists today in the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
- Iconoclasts are not Orthodox. Iconodules are Orthodox.
- Alcuin composes the Quatuor Libri Carolini
I take it now you wish to rewrite history also? from your take on Iconodulism?
Do you deny that since the time of your Eastern pagan emperor Justinian the Great the Eastern Church had fallen into a state of stagnation. Justinian II recognized the Popes authority by trying to impose his signature by threats when the pope refused to “Sanction” his councils findings. So much for your new founded schism with the Pope from this time period.
Tell me about your Eastern heretic emperor Leo the Isaurian (717-741) who succumbed to the Mohammedans and Jews and ordered the destruction of all images in the Churches. This Iconoclast “Heresy filled the Eastern Church” for a hundred years, oh, but you are a new founded “Orthodox” Church founded 1000 years later, you did not exist yet, because you are a new Iconodule, thanks again for the Popes.
Pope Gregory II condemned your Eastern Pagan emperor Leo, how’s that for saving your new Iconodulism, when Leo sent emissaries to threaten and take the Pope captive, for “DEFENDING” Icons in the Church. But you fail to recognize this Truth, because it proves every time against your new founded rebellion against Jesus Words and Peter’s successors in the Popes, that your Eastern emperor could not get to approve his heresy from the Western Church side.
In fact, St. John of Damascus, the last of the Greek Fathers and Doctors, is recorded defending the images at least 3 times.
Can you explain when the Eastern council in constantinople (your supposed capital) anathematized those who venerated images, which resulted in killing many of our Catholic Monks who held to the Apostolic faith, that the Eastern Church was seeking to destroy by heresies. Oh, but your “orthodoxy” does not reach that far back to the True Orthodox Eastern Church’s because you agree with Rome to keep the Icons.
Thank God for your Empress Irene, who restored the veneration of images and brought back peace to the Church. The Papal legates sent from Hadrian I to Irenes and Tarasius General council which met in Nicea 787, to which the Papal legates presiding which ultimately defined the veneration of Images in the Seventh Ecumenical council. By you not being realistic here to history, and isolate events from the whole of the picture reveals your deception here. It is you who should be careful here.
Let us not forget that Leo the Armenian in 813 revived the Iconoclast spirit followed by Theophilus who viloently persecuted the Monks who adhered to the definition of the Nicene council. Thank God for Theophilus’s Widow who brought back the images to the Church of St. Sophia. The Patriarch St. Methodius and Theodora instituted the “Feast of Orthodoxy” kept by the Greeks on Feb. 19th.
When you try to rewrite history to your personal convictions about in house conflicts, never negates the True Apostolic Catholic faith maintained in both Eastern Catholic Church’s in communion with the Western Catholic Church. I have assumed nothing here, I only repeat what transpired from history.
