Just found this essay online, online compares the cost of cigarettes and books – OK, cigs are out of fashion so substitute “lattes”.
To anyone who hasn’t read Orwell’s essays I recommend them. I read a review lately suggesting that Orwell may have been OCD because he so often computed things down to the pence (occasionally in novels as well).
What do you “waste” money on vs. books?
In my case it’s . . . cigarettes. OTOH, I’ve bought enough that I have a long queue waiting to be read.
