What makes something sinful is not an essential issue listed above. Regardless of what your misconceptions are, this list has never changed. An issue with contraception would fall under what Paul said. “Each man must be convinced in his own mind.” The key example Paul uses are holy days of obligation. The CCC says its a sin not to observe them. By scripture and revelations from the Holy Spirit, I am convinced in my own mind that I do not. It too is a non-essential issue.

The only way would be to reject Jesus. We still have free will. But what authentic born-again, new creation of God ever would?

Someone who has experienced the work of Holy Spirit in him at conversion is changed forever. He/She just would never do that.

When Jesus said “It is finished”, I believed Him. At that time, he paid the FULL price for all my sins, past, present, and future. My hope and prayer is that one day, you too can have that kind of faith and trust in Jesus’ perfect sacrifice. 🙂

The above is an odd statement–the author of it seems to infer that I do not have that kind of faith and trust in Jesus’ perfect sacrifice. I don’t see the relevance of his reply to my post.

Anyway, he can be assured that his prayer is already answered, because I do have that faith and trust.

My bad for throwing up the contraception issue and maybe getting you off track. Could you please list the essentials?

Not everyone who is born again is saved. A person can accept the Gospel but he doesn’t have roots, so he can fall away. A person can accept the word, but earthly cares choke it away.

Jesus says we must feed on every Word from the mouth of God. And Peter says people lack understanding of Paul’s letters and therefore it leads to their destruction.

Seems as if we were intended to have objective, visible standard of authority. And that cant be the bible if so many interpret it differently.

So either i trust in the CC or i trust in my own ability to properly interpret the bible. One of those two is my perceived authority as a Christian since books don’t interpret themselves

You totally forgot one other option. The only reliable option. The Holy Spirit. The CC has no greater access to the Spirit than you or I. I rely in the Holy Spirit’s. I trust Him to guide me. Don’t you?

I’ll give you a real life example in my own life. I used to believe you could lose your salvation. I would hear others speak of assurance but still flatly thought they were wrong. But then through my daily Bible studies, I started getting conflicting feelings on the matter. Scripture seemed to conflict with my beliefs (the Holy Spirit started working on me). So I started praying that God would give me Truth and wisdom in the matter. It took me a couple of years and with the Holy Spirits help, He opened my eyes to the Truth. I was once like most on this forum. How could someone fall into sin and not go to hell.

But then, the Holy Spirit started asking me questions through scripture. If I sealed you until the Day of the Lord, that is a promise. Why would I lie and unseal you? If I selected you before the foundation of the world to be in My Kingdom, what could you ever do to overcome My power/my plan? I tell you over and over again in My Word that I have given you eternal life. Do you think I really lied about that? But it took me another year because of difficult passes like Hebrews 10. So with the Holy Spirit’s guidance, He opened the truth behind those difficult passages and now my faith and trust in Jesus has gone to a whole new level. I now have God’s peace knowing that He will sustain me until I reach Heaven. I have joy knowing that Jesus did more for me than I had thought previously. It is a great feeling to know that God has me in His hands, and no matter how imperfect I am, He loves me and will keep me safe until I see Jesus’ face to face. This is the Gospel and its all Biblical my friend.

You see, you and I have the same access to God as anyone does in Heaven. He wants us to trust in Him. No matter what other believe, as long as you trust in Him, He will reveal the Truth to you. Don’t get me wrong. He still has me ignorance in some matters, and He may or may not give me revelation in those matters, but I’m trusting in His plan for my life.

Are you implying that mackbrislawn doesn’t trust in Jesus, or anyone else who believes synergic salvation?

I’m sure there are those on this forum who’ve received the Spirit but think differently from you. The Spirit does NOT deceive.

Then that person was not born-again. Only real faith saves/converts. Superficial acceptance does not.

I apologize for inferring anything. What I meant to ask (not to eloquently before) is do you believe your past, present, and future sins penalty have been paid through Jesus’ perfect sacrifice?

That person wasn’t born again? Because Jesus said that person received the Word with joy.

Luke 8:13 is clear:

Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.

I’m only giving you my witness. Yes, the Spirit does not deceive indeed. But He does withhold revelation and has His own timing.

Jesus didn’t say what caused that person to receive joy did He? Was it love or a “get out of hell-free card:”?

Real faith (good soil) is authentic/lasting. Superficial faith(walkway, rocky) is not. That is the moral of the parable.

A faith that PERSEVERES. So you agree FINAL PERSEVERANCE is necessary for salvation then?

So you believe that those who believe in synergic salvation have been withheld from certain parts of the Holy Spirit’s revelation?
