I’ve seen alot of controversy coming from the Touhou game series and I’ve been itching to play it…

What controversy? I know there are a lot of people who use the Touhou characters in inappropriate ways, but the games themselves are just bullet-hell shooters, I love them. Touhou’s are generally very well made as well, and pretty challenging.

Touhou has some Shinto overtones, but I don’t think they go any deeper than anything else produced by Japan. I admit to not having played any of the games, but I strongly doubt any of the games pontificate on the truth of Shintoism (rather than just using it as a cool setting) or denounce Christianity even in the slightest way. Someone correct me if I turn out to be wrong about this, but overall I’d say the series is fairly innocent.

As long as you buy the games, you’ll be fine. The games themselves aren’t, to my knowledge morally objectionable. But I had to put it on easy mode to beat the first stage so I didn’t get very far. :blush

But u guys know, the Touhou games are classified as doujins, too!
But I know what u guys mean (I’m assuming self-published mangas/novels/etc.). ^.^

Better yet – Stay away from doujin, full stop. In that direction lies madness.
