Other sheep have I that are not of this fold. This statement is often used by LDS to as proof that Jesus visited the Americas after his death, and that the ancient people there became Christians. Despite there being not a shred of evidence to prove this. But my question is if Jesus had other sheep there, why not in China, Russia, the Far East, in fact anywhere else in the world ? Why only in the the Americas…somewhere?

The New World and Australia are the only regions beyond any “walking distance” from Israel.

So far, no one in AUS claims that HE went there after His death…🤷

I agree, the statement is beyond thin, but it is the only way to anchor a Christocentric religion to the New World.

Jesus may have meant on other planets. When he said preach to the whole world, he expected that he would have to go to the other sheepfolds himself.

I don’t think humanity will ever visit another galaxy.

I think the traditional understanding is that He meant the Gentiles, speaking as He was to Jews at the time, No?

I have always taken it to mean that He meant other flocks of consciousness in other realms of existence, i.e. the world of disembodied spirits, or perhaps other planets, ect, but well, you know it could mean anything,

According to the Book of Mormon, He came to the Americas because members of the House of Israel immigrated to the Americas. The reason He didn’t journey to China, Russia or Australia is because the House of Israel had not settled in those areas…A portion of the tribe of Joseph and Ephriam were in the Americas…thus His “other sheep” as He stated, He had come to the House of Israel.
