Have you been on any other Christian forums apart from this one? If so how did it compare?

I’ve been on an unmoderated forum, without naming names, the debate there was vile. People were using their free speech to abuse, bully, hate and generally cause harm to others. Some of which was from people claiming to be Christian. This place is a lot more pleasant. Thank you moderators for keeping this place clean 👍

I have… I’m not going to mention/name them … and yes, CAF is the best one.

I’ve also been on Islamic forums and they were very harsh against Christians

I also browse an Atheist forum and I have found them to be somewhat pleasant and not as harsh and raw as the Islamic forums.

TGIF 😃

I did a brief stint several years ago on a small KJVonlyist forum. The discussion was nowhere near as pleasant as it is here on CAF.

To be fair, I have seen some harsh treatmeant of muslims here. While I’ve never witnessed it getting to the point of members flat out saying ‘your beliefs are stupid’ sometimes I feel like that is the dark undertone of some posts.

But anyway… I have never been a member of any other Christian forum, but I have browsed the topics of a few of them. They’re… a little scary. It kinda makes me glad for the rule here about keeping private revelation just that, private! I get the feeling there are either a lot of delusional people out there, or ‘false prophets’ trying to make a buck or start a cult.

I actually prefer a different forum, where it’s easier for an Orthodox to be Orthodox, but it’s not as active, so I come here often.

This forum is my “home” forum; there are really nice people there (and a few stinkers) 😃

It’s not as active as it used to be, though, and it’s really nice to be among fellow Catholics here.

This, pretty much. The forum I feel more “at home” on (theologically or what have you) is very slow, and its most active hours are when I’m asleep since most of the members and moderators are in Europe and Egypt (and New Jersey…still several timezones away), so I still come here. Plus, I’ve been here longer and old habits die hard. 🙂

… and old habits die hard. 🙂
I hear you! 😃

The other forum I linked to has people from a lot of different denominations. Their questions and challenges have truly helped me grow in my Catholic faith; I know better “what” I believe and “why” than I ever did before.

And it also makes me so, so grateful for our Church. There are some really wild ideas and beliefs out there 😊

Well, I occasionally visit here when I want the Orthodox viewpoint. And it’s very active, as indicated by the number of posts & threads.

🙂

I’ve been on one called Christian Chat, and while it looked ecumenical when I joined I soon found out that it was dominated by Fundamentalist Evangelicals and catered mostly to them.

Yes, CAF’s size can be an advantage. On some smaller boards, you may wait a few days or even weeks in between posts. We definitely don’t have that problem here!

I’ve been on various denomination forums on Beliefnet including their Catholic forums. I can’t say the Catholic forums there were much different than here. Though I have found some Catholics on both to be more tolerant than others. Here it does seem the bulk of Catholic members do come from a more conservative bend. But in general I found the B-net forums of various Protestant denominations comparably more tolerant. At one time I even spent a good amount of time hanging with the SDAs there. They were very welcoming towards me.

Man sometimes I wish we did. I hate to let even 12 hours get by without checking the new topics and such. One can fall behind quite easily here and I have done so in the past.

I always enjoy there something to always be discussing or learning. This has been the best forum I have seen so far.

God bless.

i am registered there, and i rather enjoy it.

for faith issues, i go there

but, for back fence/news talk, CAF is amazing for that

ive already found and PMed you there a little bit back.

I like it, plus the Convert section is really interesting for me to read.

Not a Christian Forum, but I’m also a member of an Orthodox Jewish Forum, mainly to learn more about the complexities of Torah Judaism, since I’m a Reform Jew. Some stimulating discussions there about Judaism as well as Christianity, just like here. Most posters are tolerant, a few less so, just like here.

It has a blue background, but I don’t believe it turns purple during Lent, as it’s actually a subforum of a generic Christian site.

I think you’re referring to the .net forum, which I cannot stand for a multitude of reasons, I can almost guarantee all of which are my own. I will not post there. I was told by someone I respect very much, when I was first investigating Orthodoxy that online forums “Will put the devil in your head”. At many sites I have found that to be true.

I post at TAW.

Are we allowed to post the names of other forums? People seem to be avoiding doing so, so I am as well, but I have no problem stating the name if we’re allowed to.
