The 1962 Missal of John XXIII was the Missal issued during the Second Vatican Council. What other Missals might have been considered?
 
The '62 Missal was promulgated right before the Council opened, IIRC.

But I’m not quite sure what you mean by “what other Missals might have been considered”?
 
There are ballistic missals with nuclear warheads on them:D

Pope Pius promulgated an edition of the Roman Missal that was to be obligatory throughout the Latin Church except where there was a traditional liturgical rite that could be proved to be at least two centuries old. Pope Clement VIII replaced Pope Pius V’s text with a new typical edition in 1604.
