Other than liturgical music, what type of music do you like?

I know, as Catholics, that of course we are supposed to like liturgical music, which I definetely do.

I am curious to know what kind of music, BESIDES liturgical music, that you like the most.
 
Classical! 😃 Beethoven, Mozart, Dvorak, and Tchaikovsky especially. I also enjoy many film scores.

And to be honest, I don’t like all liturgical music 🙂
 
I picked Rock and Roll, because I like the old-time Rock and Roll music.

I know what you mean! Some “liturgical” music has no place at Mass!
 
I put Mexican Mariachi as a poll choice because it’s fun to hear.
 
I had to look up Bill Haley and the Comets.
I like Rock, but more contemporary stuff.

This poll needs multiple answers! Not to mention more options… 😃

Metal, rock, classical, country…everything except modern pop and hip hop. Bach and the Beatles, Buddy Holly and the Dead Kennedys, Metallica and Allan Jackson, Bob Marley and Glen Miller…

I can’t say I like liturgical music in general, but I love Gregorian chant.
 
I love the classics, but I also love good Jazz, which was not an option on the poll.

Wow, I would have to pick a few, I like Gregorian chant, classical, jazz, old R+B, old country, acappella, ethnic, opera. That might sound like I like all kinds of music, but that isn’t it. I like music that is well performed and balanced. I like music for the mood I am in or to change my moo0d. I laike music that has meaning–I dislike ‘elevator music’ or commercial music that uses tricks to sell it. Music to me is communication–it must have meaning other than justentertainment, unless it is strictly for dance. I like making music, and seeing live music. Nothing compares to being in the middle of a choir or performing solo when you can see your music working on people.–nicolo
 
Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Celtic and Andean (I like pan pipes too).
 
More of a Classic Rock guy than a Rock and Roll guy. Like the Dobbies and ZZTop and Bon Jovi, ect. good stuff like that.
 
I would like to see some Relgious Rap. That would be something.

Fr Stan Fortuna of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal does that. FANtastic. It was my introduction to Rap.

I will probably get kicked off for admitting this, but I like Eminem’s (clean versions) rap. I think the guy has an amazing way with manipulating words. Please…don’t hit me! :eek: I pray for his conversion because if he used that talent for God he could reach so many young people who are currently dwelling in darkness.

Apart from that, Gregorian Chant, Sacred Polyphony, classical and rock 'n roll. I guess you could say I have a very catholic taste in music.
 
I have two extremes:

I like Classical Music, specifically Baroque pieces and operas and oratorias from that period.

On the other end of the Spectrum I also like Dance Music, specifically trance.

I also enjoy 80s music.

I like classical music too. It isn’t cool with the large portion of society sadly 😦

Yes it is, they just don’t recognise it as such. I remember playing some Wagner (I think it was) and my kids asked "Isn’t that the music from “Star Wars?” LOL

I also like Andrew Lloyd Weber stuff like Phantom of the Opera{/I}

oh yeah. Phantom is a classic. A bit sad but, still one of the best.
