A Canadian archbishop has judged that a Mexican human rights center, which received support from the Canadian Church’s Development and Peace initiative, has taken an approach that is “incompatible” with Catholic teaching by supporting groups that promote abortion.
The Miguel Pro Center for Human Rights’ “support of groups in favor of abortion rights in Mexico is incompatible with the Church’s defense of the right to life from conception to natural death, and the mission of Development and Peace,” according to an April 1 notification from the office of Ottawa Archbishop Terrence T. Prendergast.
