Pope Leo XIII would be quite proud, but still unhappy that little is done in this regard in most dioceses. Many of the clergy still do not believe in demonic possession, nor in exorcisms. It’s a step forward, though.

[SIGN]Go, pope Francis! [/SIGN]

I wouldn’t say they don’t believe in it. First one has to identify it properly and even when and if it’s identified positively, all one has to do is to watch some movies to realize this isn’t as simple as it seems. Just sayin…

I would hesitate to make such blanket statements.
Every priest I know (numerous) does most certainly believe in demonic possession, and is very glad that those who are exorcists are 1) specially trained, 2) their identities kept quiet, 3) NOT THEM.
It’s not an easy process, and it takes a very strong priest to handle this. Nothing to mess about with. Every Diocese has an official exorcist or two.
It’s not for everyone. And many people claim to be possessed and are not. there are many psychological tests that go along with this diagnosis, before they ever see an exorcist.

I can’t say I’ve watched the ‘Exorcist’ the movie :eek:but I do know that the Evil one resides, and he may take over humans. Jesus healed many people from demonic possessions. :tsktsk:

What she said…thankfully there are those who accept the call of this intense work of the church.
