How should human beings respond to this? How do you think human beings will respond to this.

I hate to say it but I don’t think the human race would charitably open its doors to an alien race, especially since they outnumber us!

‘How big are you?’

Maybe no-one has read (or heard or seen) The Hitchhikers Guide? An alien race was hell bent on travelling to earth to conquer us, but they made a mistake in measurement. Turned out their star ships were the size of a gnat and they were accidently swallowed by a dog.

Thinking specifically about the United states the reaction isn’t exactly welcoming when someone come over via boat or foot from a nation south of the USA border. I don’t expect it to be more welcoming for outside the earth.

Would it be too much to negotiate a little tit for that? If you’re advanced enough to space travel, you’d think they’d have something to bribe the big cheeses of the world. :hey_bud:

And since they asked first as opposed to all-out invasion, me thinks such cooperation would be more mutually beneficial wouldn’t you say?

You don’t necessarily have to give us weapons. Space travel alone would be a great boon. And if the species could actually intermingle with ours to create a new, hybrid race we might colonize the entire galaxy together!

(Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to hide my Darth Sidious costume.)

If their world was destroyed, how did they survive? If the sun blew us up, I don’t see anyone surviving. 🤷

I don’t know how I would feel if Marvin the Martian and his buddies wanted to crash here.

The planet is overcrowded now, by some estimates.

However, all depends on the aliens’ embodiments. If they preferred environments such as our ocean floors or polar caps, or the Sahara, we might not even notice them.

And given a suitable technological quid pro quo, their resettlement might be mutually beneficial.

Ditto on Marvin.

While your estimate is true for now, if we had colonies on Pluto or Titan by then, human life would survive.

If they look like this:

then, No. I would tell them there is a great little planet just right for them in the Orion Nebula, a mere 1,300 light years down the road.

Seriously, though, beings must be able to live together or at least be adaptable to become so, or else things could never work. Imagine if all the devils came to us and said their planet was destroyed, could we accommodate them?

When one being does not possess compassion, it brings for a matrix of disorder into that system. It must either be destroyed, removed, or synthesized into something that possesses compassion, otherwise entropy shall have the last say.

:bible1:

God’s word must be followed no matter what happens. For it is written: Whatever you do to the least of my brethren, you do to me. Aliens whose home world is destroyed, and who, in their sorrow, ventures to Earth, a planet filled with light and water, for peace and comfort, should be accommodated to the best of Mankind’s abilities.

Regardless, a situation like this will *never *happen. :whacky:

I think you have the beginnings of an interesting sci-fi story.

Ladies and gentleman, this thread has been placed in the philosophy section so ummm…let’s straighten up and hover right now. I know we can make use of more neurons than we’ve brought to bear on this query so far.

If they are advanced enough to get here after their sun blew up, then they are advanced enough to build space colonies and house their entire population (their entire population and then some) that way. Only relatively technologically unsophisticated and helpless civilizations conduct the entirety of their affairs on their home world.

Well by all accounts, there’s still a lot of things that aren’t being considered in the hypothetical situation presented. Some of these are namely:
  • Level of technology possessed by alien visitors
  • Reasons for why their sun blew up
  • What incentive they can offer to humanity’s leaders (encompassing the political, industrial, and even religious spectrum)
It’s really no joke as those have been some of the default factors mankind has historically considered when a foreign, unknown party entreats the dominant party for shelter and aid. 🤷
