This is what my kind has been doing for millions of years. Its cute to find other beings in the universe who want to do the same thing. This will also be considered by the committee before the final decision is made.

Rather amusing that many higher beings claim that Men become their own monsters or create them without second thought. And yet, they are surprised when the conquerors, warriors, and violent misfits come together to become the biggest thing standing between them and their invasion. 😛

This is an interesting response. Prepare to be abducted by aliens.
 
Should we suppose they are telling the truth? People will lie when they want stuff. Can we verify their story? One need not let them stay to be charitable. We could replenish some of their supplies and send them on their way if we can’t verify their story. If they had a planet, and we have a planet, it stands to reason that they can find another planet that can support them. I used to be naive and trust in everyone’s good intentions. Then I went to work as an insurance claims adjuster and learned how much people lie if they think they can profit from it.
 
if these aliens are so smart that they can transport 8 billion of themselves to our little solar system, they don’t need any help from us; they can just terra-form Mars to suit their liking and then they can live happily with us poor dumb earthlings as neighbors and we can send astronaut missionaries to convert then once they get comfy on the red planet

What if we can’t replenish their supplies (ex: their ship is powered by rare elements) and they barely had enough to make it from their system to our planet (which would make sense given the enormous energy cost of interstellar travel).

Or if their ship isn’t an SSTO then it may not have all of it’s parts by the time it reaches earth.

Reminds me a little bit of what happened on the Exodar.
 
What if … they are super smart and have excellent manners, can speak all languages fairly fluently after a month of practice, but they all tend to be somewhat narcissistic and their outward appearance is that of the common household cockroach, though they walk on two legs and are 7 to 8 feet in height?

Two things:

A. Treat them as an equal and you will get along fine.

B. You had better have deep pockets. They will be highly offended if your initial offer is not satisfactory.

The ship is an Ark. Many generations have lived and died on it. The ship is not made to be a permanent home, and God knows where the next liveable planet is or how long the hull is going to hold. Despite what the movies say, we are not that much more technologically advanced as you. Its an assumption to think that just because we have the technology for deep space travel that therefore we are capable of the impossible. We have technological limitations.

But if trading is required, what we do have is the cure for aids and cancer.

How about:
There is no ark.
Your planet was not destroyed.
It was taken over by the humans with whom you would like to trade.
You are being grown in vats, pacified through a neurological connection to an electronic matrix, to be harvested when you ripen.

It’s been done, I know; but it is an interesting twist. No?

FYI: I’m talking about the educational system as it manisfets itself in consumerist society, and meant for those who may imagine that materialism will lead us to the promised land of newer and better living, away from the old-to-be-discarded ideas such as religion. Blown up in the supernova of modern science? - hardly.
