I have been doing a lot of reading lately on different threads and I think one of the problems we have both with laity and well a lot less with religious and diocesan priests but across the board is the wrong intent behind doing service.

For instance I once had an RCIA teacher who spent the entire year giving her slant on the CCC and then when we disagreed with her slant or wanted to debate using the CCC or Bible got look at all I do for you.

I do things in the Church to serve God. I know many others that do too. However, I think things fall apart when people want to do service or ministry to say hey, look at me. Or to gain references in the community. It goes to show that a good deed with the wrong intention does not make it necessarily a good thing.

What do you all think?

Be careful not to judge their motives–the Lord will do that at the appointed time. Be content that your intent is right.

Hey, you are right. They all are with wrong intention. I am aware of this type of people.

Thanks,
Mark

I agree with trying not to judge motives - however I also believe that sometimes God gives us examples to learn from so that we do not make those same mistakes.
